These loss rebates are a joke. I haven't heard of one person who had come out significantly ahead while using one. And don't mention Don Johnson. If you believe that's all he was using, I've got many N.Y. bridges for sale!

There's a big different between a 20% LR and a 100% LR. That's all I really have to say.

Boz had the right Idea.

This promotion is a very good way to practically free roll $1,000 on some big progressives like megabucks or wheel of fortune.

I did this promotion. My signup was as a non-local. First thing that should be mentioned is that parking is NOT free at the downtown grand casino. The downtown grand charges $20 or $25 dollars for valet and has no self-parking. That's a ripoff. Downtown vegas is not like the strip where free parking is the standard. I have found that a good way to park is to go in to the Binion's parking structure. Just go straight at the light after you exit the freeway and turn right in to the parking structure immediately after going through the intersection. The google maps coordinates for the parking structure entrance are 36.172800, -115.142814 (copy/paste in to google maps). Once you park in that structure, you have to get your parking ticket validated at Binion's Casino. So, take your parking ticket with you and go in to Binion's. Take a $20 bill to a blackjack or craps table and get $5 chips. Make one $5 wager and get your parking ticket validated. You might win or you might lose. Who knows, but either way you get your parking. You can sign up for a Binions card and get some miscellaneous freebies at Binions if you want.

Once your parking is validated, walk to the downtown grand (east about a block on Stewart or Ogden). Sign up for the player's card, make sure that your account is flagged for the loss rebate, then stick your card and $1000 in to one of these 4 slot machines -

Megabucks ($3 / spin) / Wheel of Fortune ($2 / spin) -

$4 / Spin slot with decently sized prizes:

There aren't really any high limit slots at the downtown grand. Those 4 machines are the highest limits I could find on games where the losses count toward the rebate. A reasonable time to stop would be if your credits on the machine are $1,400 or higher (assuming you put in $1,000 to start). Just play until you reach $1,400+ or you bust out. It can take several hours to burn through $1,000 on a $2, $3, or $4 a spin slot. So, be prepared to be patient. The wheel of fortune machine is only $2 a spin, but I think it's more fun because it has that wheel at the top that you get to spin around from time to time.

If you get your $1,400+, then great. Just take the money and never come back. However, in my case I busted out. So, I had to monetize the free slot play.

Come back 24 hours after your first gambling activity was generated and get your $500 loaded on to your card at the cashier. The cashier / player's card desk is in the same spot.

I found that a good way to monetize the free slot was to play the $10 / hand blackjack on the game king machines. It's probably theoretically better to play deuces wild or something, but that game's optimal strategies are more complicated. You have to wager $10 dollars 50 times to cover the first rebate ($500). All your winnings from those wagers can be cashed. The amount that you have wagered in free slot play is visible on the machine. So, it's easy to see when you have finished your wagering. In my case, the $500 in free slot play monetized to $492. This seems to be in-line with what one would expect after wagering $500 on blackjack. I will come back later to monetize the 2 chunks of $250 when my card is eligible for them.

Notes -

Losses / winnings on machines with the "machine not eligible for rebate program" (blue sticker) do not affect your reimbursement amount -

LOOK for these blue stickers. Sometimes they are hard to find. Don't even think about losing cash in a machine with the blue sticker on it. You will regret it.

Machines with the "no free slot play" sticker can't be played with the loss reimbursement, as it comes in "free slot play" -

As far as I can tell, the terms as listed by beachbumbabs are accurate. It might be advantageous to, as a non-local, do this promotion toward the end of a month (e.g. on the 29th). That way you can get your second rebate on the first of the following month, which wouldn't be far away.

Outstanding first post, 47391pt2! Thanks for all the tips and step-by-step advice.

It's true there's some information that could be helpful to a novice, however it certainly isn't the best way to play this promotion, there's good information he missed. I would call this how not to play DTG. LR.

Whether or not it's actually eligible and works on Megabucks is a concern. Normally casinos disallow state-wide progressives for promotions(It could just be an over-site on the casinos part). I was told SWP weren't eligible at the beginning of the promotion(you should never rely on information from any one employee, unless you're sure they actually know their stuff) .

I know they denied payment to a known player who lost playing on a state wide progressive. However, that doesn't mean everyone or all SWP's have been declined. It may very well work on MB. I really don't know, because that's probably one of the worst slots to play, if you like maximizing EV.

You could argue it's a good way to have a free shot at millions. I could argue maximizing your EV could give you a much more reasonable chance to actually hit something and it the same as flushing cash. With the Extra EV you could use that to buy lottery tickets or invest in something else that's +EV
( 1/2 parlay cards or something )

If allowing MB was just an oversight by the casino, tipping them off isn't smart if MB is you're poison. Pre warning: some machines do not track losses properly. Good luck convincing them of that after the fact.

I haven't been to DTG for a few weeks (something may have changed since). They have a convenient parking garage directly across the street that goes directly into the casino. it's to my understanding if you have a card and cycle $20 though it's free parking validated at the slot club or cage.. If you're doing the LR anyway, certainly you would qualify. If that's the case, there's no reason to jack around with parking in the Binion's 4th-floor+, stinky, piss filled garage while waiting forever for the cramped rickety old smelly elevators. Or even better,
if you like ammonia and puke aroma just take the garage stairs.

I've seen the loss rebate done twice. Wheel of Fortune was not allowed about 9 months ago, nor was it allowed about 1.5 months ago. Unless something changed very recently I would proceed with caution. I don't know about Megabucks, but I would doubt they'd let a large progressive like that in the deal. They were very stingy with what you had to play to both earn the rebate, and to redeem the rebate.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I would just add -- while I respect the posters thoroughly written post -- that $1400 is nowhere near the stop-win point you want to be at.

Losses on the megabucks and wheel of fortune machines count toward the loss rebate. However, when you actually receive the rebate it comes in the form of free slot play, and this can't be used on the wheel of fortune or the megabucks. This part was a little confusing, and I asked a casino employee specifically about this issue. I lost most of the $1,000 on the wheel of fortune machine, and all of that counted towards the rebate.

I signed up for the $500 loss rebate at the plaza and did that one too. I cashed out after I was up $310. So, I don't know too much about the optimal way to redeem the slot play but deuces wild and jacks or better seemed reasonable.

I took a pic of their terms -

I wasn't able to see those on their website or anywhere else except in the player's card line. They seem really picky about the redemption windows. Tuesdays and Fridays are 10x points days. So, it might be a good idea to do the promo on those days so you can get more free slot play from your wagers.

If it did, then it's a glitch. No State Wide or banked machine progressives count on the front end . Neither does any VP, however, VP can be played on the back end. The machines are clearly identified as not being eligible.
The parking has changed recently. You now have to be a Silver or Black card member to park for free. Only valet can validate for the garage with those 2 cards. LAZ owns the garage with a posted rate of 25.00. Then what's really funny, a posted rate of 20.00 for a lost ticket.
DTG is going under fast. The gift shop is all but closed.

Well the machines don't have the blue stickers on them that say "not eligible for rebate program", I asked the floor person about these machines and she said the losses counted, and I lost all of the $1,000 on those machines and I was able to redeem my free slot play in full. I'm not aware of any indication that this was unintentional on part of the casino. Maybe they're getting desperate.

FYI if this play was on your list of things to do you can scratch it off.

The Loss rebate has ended.
---------------------
Downtown Grand is getting worst.
They made a new high limit slot room. It's closterphopic, It's bland, no pictures, no art no chadillears, nothing nice, it looks like some small box dive penny room. It doesn't match the other parts of the casino. They took out the main pit. There's table games in the old HL slot room. No one will feel comfortable playing HL slots where it is now.

IMO they should put the HL slots back in the original room.

They have nothing but some very confusing drawing that's mixed with a slot tournament.

They no longer have a slot club booth they cage now handles all of that.

Parking is 50 base points in the garage. But to make it worst you have to go to the cage get a ticket then walk outside to valet and have them validate it. Then walk back to the garage. why can't they just do it at the cage? That's dumb to make people have to jump though hoops.
