I am not a table player, at all. But I went to the Hard Rock Punta Cana casino with a friend and we were intrigued with the ultimate hold em table. We each bought in. I played a dollar on he progressive like a sucker every hand, and played 10 bucks each on trips, ante, and blind. My hand was pocket 7s, and I didn't bet before the flop, engrossed in conversation, though I don't think I woild have bet anyway at that point. Anyhow, two 7s pop up on the flop. I bet the 20 I'm allowed to bet. The table shows four of a kind is 30 to 1. I'm new, and not a serious gambler, and was naive enough to assume I would get the right winnings. What I got was 250 winnings and an additional 100 from my 1 dollar progressive bet. I was gambling while having a serious conversation, and like an idiot, did not pay attention. When I got home I was telling my husband about the game and my win, and he said it doesn't add up. I'm still trying to figure everything out, but if my bet was 20, and trips shows 30 to 1 isn't that 1200 alone? And if I bet 10 on a 5 trip does that mean more money? I'm trying to figure this out.does the 30 to 1 only happen if I bet before the flop? I'm so confused. More than anything I just want to understand the pays and rules better. Am I completely wrong? Are the trips odds only good for bets before the flop?

Trips pays on all hands, in many casinos even if you fold.

If you had $1 progressive, $10 on trips, ante and blind, and you bet $20 on play, you should win:

$20 on play (pays even on $20)
$10 on ante (pays even on $10 when the dealer has a pair or better)
$100 on blind (pays 10 to 1 on $10)
$300 on trips (pays 30 to 1 on $10)
and
$100 on progressive (assuming you are right about the 100 to 1 progressive).

I count $430 plus $100.

But, I am concerned when you say "10 on a 5 trip" which make me think you were actually betting only $5 on trips, and $10 on the others. In that case, you would win 20+10+100+150 = 280 plus the 100 progressive, which is very close to what you wrote about in the first place.

tl,dr: Probably was paid correctly.

I did play 10 on trips as well, I meant to say the minimum bet was 5. I still honestly dint fully understand the game or know what trips really are/do. Ypthank you very much for your response. Looks like I'll be doing a hell of a lot more watching before diving back in, because I actually enjoyed the game and it doesn't suck my money up as fast as the slots. Thank you! It's reassuring to know I may have walked away from 30 bucks rather than several hundred!

You need to learn the payouts in this game. The number of dealer mistakes (not in the players favor) per hour is so damn high in this game.
