I got my head spun around on this one and am not completely certain which event earned the "That was fast!" title.

The linked article is dated 12/16/14 at 10:18 p.m. It talks about Sam Nazarian relinquishing control of the SLS hotel (keeping a 10% stake) after the gaming commission found that he had regularly associated with known criminals and he admitted that he recently has again used cocaine. Since all this happened just a few months after the place opened, I thought that was the "fast" part.

Then at the bottom of the article is today's 1:01 p.m. article (later than the O.P. of this thread, I think) saying that today he received a license from the gaming commission. Now that's really a fast turn around. Guess he's back in business after a two-day withdrawal.

Or did I miss something while my head was spinning?

I'm not sure, but there are two licenses at stake. License for the casino and License for Nazarian as a principal person holding five percent or more. He is over the hurdle of a principal license after some public wrist slapping for being less than totally forthcoming.
