I agree they normally don't hassle you with that. However I'd still be cautious. Never let the cash out of your site and definitely don't hide it in a pill box.

Never mind the cops, thieves target pill bottles. .

So what, if I step in front of a truck
I'll get hit. If I'm being mugged, he's
getting the money no matter where
it is. The pill bottle has worked for
me for years because nobody thinks
that much cash can fit in so tiny a
container. It's always on my person,
somebody has to frisk me in a robbery
to get it. You don't like it, who cares.

Is this really happening and yet no one is doing much about it?

I believe it's happening.

To effectively do anything about it, we probably need to change the laws. That will be difficult, as so many lawmakers don't want to be seen as "soft on crime", and so many police departments are using it as their operating budget.

https://www.aclu.org/criminal-law-reform/civil-asset-forfeiture

Pretty sure someone already linked the John Oliver video.

It's absolutely legalized highway robbery. Until the law gets changed, maybe you don't want to carry "large amounts of cash" on the highway.

You have been driving across states where this is prevalent? For years with large amounts of cash in a pill bottle, at a time where you have been pulled over while they searched your car?

Were are not talking about flying they don't really target money like the cops do.

Perhaps you have been lucky that doesn't make it a good Idea. I'm sure there people who over eat, drink, smoke and do drugs that live a long time however that doesn't make it a good idea.

It's irrelevant if they think that much cash can fit in a pill bottle because they are after the drugs.

I agree that it is not typical but I bet if you were carrying $400,000 in cash you would be interrogated at least 10% of the time.

Then whatchu doin' with all that drug money then, boy? I believe this cash is the proceeds from a drug deal. This is going home with us.

Why on Earth would we discuss this if you were right? To top that, you just damaged your credibility in many discussions with such a statement.
