Interesting article

http://www.fool.com/investing/high-growth/2014/10/25/the-las-vegas-game-you-should-avoid-at-all-costs.aspx

What caught my eye is this quote from the article

"What's surprising is that the Las Vegas Strip may be the best place to play table games. The Strip may be more competitive with table game rules because of the close proximity to competitors or the fact that it generally has higher wagers than downtown or Reno.
Either way, it's no guarantee you'll get a better deal off-Strip than you will in the heart of the action in Las Vegas."

I kind of disagree with the above quote but it is kind of generic.
Any comments?

Generally, I would say that statement is not correct, with the exception of higher limit games. For low limit of red and green play, off strip offers better rules mostly because many strip properties are 6-5 at lower limits. The off strip casinos just don't engage in that. They cater to a different clientele than the strip, mainly locals who are looking for a fair shake and decent rules, unlike the strip who caters to tourists who are more concerned about free drinks and or half naked dealers. Lol.

But if you move up to $50, $100 and higher minimum tables, then the statement becomes correct. Strip casinos usually have better rules (like stand soft 17, surrender, sometimes re-splitting aces) and conditions at those higher limit tables tables, while off strip locations don't even have higher limit tables and/or areas.

So, if you are playing higher limit, the statement is probably correct.

I would modify that somewhat, that some off-strip places would just as soon divert some tourists from the strip as well by offering better deals. Not sure how many smaller or single owned casinos left though that don't have a counterpart on the Strip.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Agree with the article somewhat. Depends on what games you play. For BJ, Vegas would be an absolute avoid. I can't fathom the folks who flock to these 6/5 and/or CSM tables. Also many games that has Go-Go dancers and attractive female dealers. LOL. Sheep to slaughter. Good craps and roulette action from what I have observed. Poker is on the wane but still a popular venue especially if you are a regular at the Venetian/Palazzo for one. As for bac, Vegas is an absolute heaven if you know what you are doing.

There is always a tradeoff. Letting your wife loose at the Forum Shops while you go hunt a few pennies off special on the Boulder Strip will never make sense.

Low action table games probably are better elsewhere than the Venetion or Bellagio because such low action is totally invisible in those places.

Thousand dollar play would vary but people at that stage might not care about pennies.
