Well, we have hit the midpoint of 2014. Time flies as the saying goes.

My blackjack numbers are down for the first half of the year. I am currently running below 50% of expectation for my amount of play and on top of that my actual amount of play is down from previous years. I spent a good deal of time training a partner early in the year which didn't pan out and just consumed a lot of time. If I were to match my first half BJ results in the second half of the year, It would be my worst year since I relocated to Vegas 5 years ago and my BJ results would total about 40% of what I have averaged over the last 2 years. But even that would be OK, with me. These numbers would still be far better than I hoped for when I began my career 11 years ago.

I don't want to make it sound like I have resigned myself to having a down year. Quite the contrary. I expect a big second half. I always am expecting big things. :) And now in my 11th year I have come to KNOW that anything can happen at any time in this game. Hell Last year, I had a 6 figure run in a span of 5 weeks. Those 5 weeks ended up accounting for 90% of my years total. Again, anything can happen at anytime.

Outside of BJ, my life is very good. My younger brother graduated college last month and is spending the summer with me. Maybe longer than summer. He is figuring things out, or whatever. I know he thinks he wants to AP for a living. I am kind of hoping he decides against it. But we will deal with that when the time comes. In the meantime, I am enjoying having him around and spending time with him, making up for lost years and really getting to know him again.

So, that's about it. Life rolls on. Hope everyone is doing well and finding/making time to enjoy life along the way.

Peace

KJ

2014 so far: one machine played. I was waiting for a friend to hit the buffet at one of the near Indian Casinos here in CA. She was late as usual so I put $40 in a VP machine at the bar... a few hands in I hit my 2nd Royal Flush of all time! first in 14 years... I thanked my friend for being late. 2nd half should be great too - a few Vegas trips on the schedule, this low roller can't wait!

BTW - I rarely play at the Indian Casinos even though they are close by... to me nothing comes close to Vegas...

That's a hell of a royal percentage for this year! lol

And sorry that you aren't running up to EV, kewlj, but it sounds like you're still in okay shape. Hope it turns around for you.

As for me, (vulturing) Ultimate X pretty good. Everything else...meh

For me, first half is not good at all especially the last 6 weeks. Lost at every turn at craps table.

What type of advantage were you getting on your craps game, or are you pretending you are beating the game? If you lost then you're playing as expected on craps.

I consider myself an above average horse racing handicapper. In fact I have so much knowledge about South African horse racing in my tiny little head, I feel like the thing is about ready to come off.....

I recorded a trend of losing for 7 consecutive months before turning it around last month.....

You can absolutely lose every week, every time.....

I measure my results in horse race wagering by "percentage of handle" (total sum of all wagers). My goal each year is +5% of handle for the calendar year. Was bouncing along at under half that for several months but June was an extraordinary month, and currently I'm at a little over +13%. Nice place to be. The game is somewhat seasonal for me, so more than 60% of my likely annual wagering volume is done, and I could probably suck for the rest of the year giving much of it back and still hit my annual goal. But I'd rather not suck for the rest of the year.
Suck dope, watch TV, make up stuff, be somebody on the internet.
