Yes, but you have done enough right to have a pool. And that my friend makes it all OK!

+100
The funny thing is that last year when I was house shopping, what I really wanted was a basement. Very few house in Vegas have basements. They say the ground is too hard to dig through, yet many houses have an in-ground pool. Isn't it the same hard ground? Lol.

I also thought the same way as you but there are many places without pools in the valley. I would never buy a home without one but some people just prefer not having one as it is very easy and no maintenance issues.

Lucky you! You saved a lot of electricity!

Problem is the electricity gets you on the back end.....when you try to cool down your house :)

Well, I suppose you don't need to dig as deep for a pool as for a basement. You definitely don't need to lay the same kind of foundations for a pool.
Besides, a basement is a luxury. A pool, in Vegas, is a necessity ;)

Our pool is 90-91 all on its own. We use one of those solar blankets that works amazingly well a good part of the year especially when using the heater. I agree with you right now would be a great time to have a basement. South facing daylight basement. I could save enough on utility's to double my craps br. Guess I should start digging.
Is that whole valley up there caliche? Oh and it was 104 @ noon and the temp bounced between 109 and 111 here today. We are moving to the Vegas area for the nice cool weather.

My car read 118 when I left the office around 6pm. As I drove it cooled to a much more comfortable 112 in Green Valley.

Well thats not so bad then. For a while there you were probably worried it was going to get hot.
That made me remember I have a mister system. I will have to see if it works, those drop the temp pretty well outside 10-20 degrees.

Hey Kewlj, I would have gone to the Eastside Cannery if they had those match plays they used to have (I know you like this place in your rotation ). Went to Wynn to join their slot club ( they have a $28,000,000 stainless steel sculpture of Popeye). Then to Mirage to say hello to a dealer I know. Casino Royale, Silverton, Downtown Grand. Circus Circus. Down $1,100.
A photo from washing my hands before eating at the restaurant in the Cosmo.

You know, it's funny, GJ, Just about the time I really started publicly singing the praises of Eastside Cannery, they have really tightened up their mailers on me. My partner and I have a number of accounts and our offers are down on all accounts. We even 'reset' the cycle by sitting out a couple months on some of the accounts and then hitting them with a big play, but still offers are definitely down.
The real strong mail offers were only one thing I liked about Eastside Can. I think the buffet is a good value. And when I say that, I am comparing to other lower end buffets. Sometimes when I say something like that, someone will say that Caesar's or M resort buffet is much better....Dah! Apples and oranges. We also both like the coffee shop place (I forget the name) as well as the sports bar Deli, which has an awesome double chocolate cake.
But ultimately, for me, the single most important thing is blackjack. The Eastside Can double deck game is very sporadic penetration-wise. They are all over the place, from lousy 50% to good 70%. VERY dealer dependent. Unfortunately, that lower end penetration seems to be becoming more common. Despite that I only play the better end those games, my results there have been on the under-achieving side for a second straight year now. Small sample size, I know, but with the decline in other areas (mailers), I don't find myself rushing over there as much as I used to.

I first went to the Eastside Cannery last November. Their newsletter had a $10 match play in it. They swiped your players card to make sure you only used one in that month. My friend who doesn't gamble sat down at at blackjack table. We were the only two at the table. I told the suit that we were only going to play one hand. We both put down $10 atop the match plays. It was my $20 and I made the decisions. Told him to stand, and I doubled. Can't remember the details but the dealer busted. That's always fun.
I called them yesterday to see if they had any match plays for the month of June and was told they had no promotions for cardholders. They said that my last trip too.
Played 25-200 a hand BJ. Also played 10-90. DD of course. I played strong and aggressive. Just didn't happen. Down @ $1,700. Going to hit the tables again before breakfast. Think kind thoughts.
I ended up giving them $420 after buying in for $1687. I did have everything except about $200 on the felt at one point, and they thought they were going to get my entire buy-in.
That's actually one of, if not the, bounciest table in Las Vegas, and I was doing nothing but gambling and having a good time. Every time someone would come up with a $12 buy-in, I would stop playing and watch as nobody tipped.
One of the dealers there was named Regina and she was entertaining to talk to. The person on box was a very large black woman who lectured me on how to play the game from the box (usually this is the dealers who do this). I was tipping much more than they were used to, so it was fun for that reason. But the reason I haven't been there in years is because the chips suck (chipco POS), the table sucks (too bouncy), and the players suck (just a teeny weeny bit low class). But I still managed to have fun. I won everywhere else that day and lost $100 for the day and was ahead after the next day. This was my only losing session in the last seven days, but it was still one of the most fun.
I just don't enjoy socializing with players as much as with the dealers and the crews these days. The Eastside Cannery players just seem to annoy me the last few times I went there. Cigarette smoking, expecting to win too often, and just being terrible sports about the game have ruined it at Eastside the last three times I went. And I won each of those times too, but no thanks.
Quote: AhighI stopped going to Eastside recently. I went to Arizona Charlie's for the first time in years and played their $2 table with 10x odds ($2 is double odds, 10x requires a $5 pass).

Just lost another $485 before breakfast. DD 15-90.
Played craps too yesterday. Made a $5 wager for the boys and lost. Made another and won. A little later when I was buying in for another $100, just before the chips were shoved in my direction, the shooter rolls a seven on the come out. I say to the dealer that had been placing my odds, "I should have been out there." He says, "You can be." And as he shoved my checks to me he places a $5 wager onto the pass line. This kind of thing has happened to me before. If surveillance were to question it the dealer would have said that when I gave him the $100 I said to put me on the pass line for $5. Maybe that's why some places have "no call bets."
You know what, I lost about $2,100 on this trip playing BJ. But I played aggressively and really bet it up 25-200 a hand. Took insurance when plus 5 TC and 150 out there (an example, not the +3 that's required). Dealer didn't have it and my hands were garbage. Later, when the count didn't warrant LS the dealer has it. On this trip it seemed like with 7 hrs play, when the dealer had a 10 up about 70 % of the time he had a 10 under.
But I feel good. I played very aggressively. Plus count gets less plus I don't decrease. Always made the right play no matter how much I had riding on the outcome. Now, next time, give me some sugar!
