Do any casinos in Las Vegas (or major casinos outside of Vegas or Nevada) still use 50¢ or 25¢ chips? What casinos have "unusual denominations, such as $10 or $20? Have any casinos that you know of phased out $1 chips yet? When, if ever, do you think it will happen?

If it is of interest, here in Belgium we have €10 chips, because most table minimums are 10. But I never saw €20.
In casinos where you can bet €5 at blackjack, they have €2 and c50 to pay BJ (and for tips).

I don't know about chips, I'd have found out at Fremont, but Craps was always full. I'd have asked how the $3 Place 6/8 are handled, or if they even allow that. Binion's does not have $0.25 chips, but when it comes to paying the Commission on a $5.00 Pai-Gow Poker win, they just use actual quarters.

Certain games (craps, pai gow, and baccarat come to mind) always seem to need $1 chips regardless of table min and max. I would be curious if the "high roller" casinos in Macau still have low denomination chips.

I don't think $1 chips will ever be phased out. In Pai Gow and Baccarat, you need them for commission. In blackjack, you need them for blackjack pays. If you require $5 increment bets on blackjack, you can get by with $2.50 snappers and you don't need $1s, but you'd still want $1s on hand for tips.

I have a $0.25 cheque from Fremont used for buying the 4/10 at craps. I guess it can also be used for $3.50 payouts for placing 6/8 for $3.

I did pick it up a few years ago, though, so don't know if they still have them.
