Here is the first article in I'm sure many to come over the next few months about possible suitors for The Cosmopolitan.

I happen to think it is a great idea if a foreign casino with ties to large Asian markets buy the property. In my mind it can only be good for competition and keep a monopolizing local corp from gaining an even bigger foothold in Vegas.

Another question: will the Harmon building, that flawed albatross at City Center, ever be imploded and put out of its misery?

Las Vegas needs implosions, much as a baby needs its mother's milk.

I believe its destruction has been ordered but when, now that is the big question. I'm sure it will happen before we see the back end of 2014.......

It had been ordered, but earlier this year a local judge entered a restraining order, stating she felt it was necessary to keep it intact as "evidence" in the mega-lawsuit currently spinning around it.

OK, that makes sense actually as there will still be a lot of backwards and forwards between MGM and the architects/builders.

So the most expensive billboard in the world will continue on its merry way for a while longer.......

I read an article recently (sorry can't find the exact article so I'm paraphrasing) that says it will be taken down, but only after being used as evidence in a trial determining who is responisble for it's faulty existence.

And they'll be taking it down one level at a time. Can't implode it due to its close proximity to Cosmo and other buildings.

AHH and that's the problem, if you make a promotion, it has to be good enough to get the ploppies in the door. If you do that, then the AP's take advantage of the promotions. The casino then freaks out to much. If you make the promotion AP proof, then it will probably suck and the ploppies won't come. There are a few ways they can make everyone happy, but dark side consultants spread fear of the AP and scare the hell out of the casinos.

For what it's worth, I think the key is to come up with promotions that look great to the ploppy, and actually aren't that good (or slightly negative) for the AP. A few good examples are those Bonus Coin 4OaK promotions that look really generous, in terms of coin, but still result in a negative expectation based on the games offered by the house.
