The thirty-fourth hymn of the Tenth Mandala of The Rig Veda, a Collection of religious hymns dating back to 4000 BCE, is known as the gambler´s hymn.

Awesome find! I love historical poetry and that is an interesting hymn. It is neat how it has a very similar feel and mood to modern songs about gambling.

"Play not with dice, [but] cultivate your corn-land. Enjoy the gain, and deem that wealth sufficient.
There are your cattle, there your wife, O gambler"

I think that is what we were telling that guy with the betting system, angry at Wincraps
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Great read. Thanks for that.

"Dice, verily, are armed with goads and driving-hooks, deceiving and tormenting, causing grievous woe."

I like that. :)
