Intuitively, the reason that the information is not worth much is that you do not need to "make a hand" to win. You just need to beat 2 random cards. "Good" hands are good because they often win unimproved. This is why any ace is worth a 4x bet -- ace high is often good enough to win on its own.
In a game like Misissippi Stud, where you do have to make a hand to win (and the quality of the hand changes that amount that you win), this information is extremely valuable.
Back to UTH, if there are two jacks on the flop, you should not be worried about the dealer having one anyway. If you have nothing, paired boards are good for you, since they reduce the number of outs against you. Even if you have a pair, an overpair on the board is better than two overcards on the board (again, it reduces the number of outs against you).
Quote: ComplexEnigmaLately Ultimate Texas Hold Em has been my game of choice (also seems to be the only game I can win at this year). I've noticed at the casino I go to they tolerate a great amount of table talk. It's not hard to figure out what most of the rest of the table has and I'm trying to figure out how best to use that to my advantage. The most obvious application I can think of is not max betting pocket 3s if I know the other two 3s are in other players' hands. But I figure there are more ways I can use this to trim the house edge more (if say there's a pair of jacks on the flop, and two people exclaim they got a jack I no longer have to worry about the dealer having it). What are the best ways to use this to my advantage?
Unless its heads up, talking about a hand shouldnt occur, even if its false talk about a hand. At least thats the wayI I understand it. I dont think that saying anything that can affect action with multiple players is appropriate.
Even if somone wasnt even dealt cards and comments....it should be shut down by the dealer.
This type of behavior can hurt u as much as it helps you. If someone has trip jacks, and there is an ace on the board, and someone proclaims they threw out an ace...it mught make the person with trips feel less anxiety about you having pocket aces...and he may bet accordingly Or if the person was lying/joking...it may be more delerterious to the pwersons actions. IF you are a good player you wouldnt want to play at that type of game in my opinion. Especially if its no limit and big pots can be lost on an innappropriate comment.
Gold, won the WSOP main event with his ability to talk his way through hands, and even give out his hand and see if the opponent beleived him. Then later came a Jaime Gold rule limiting that type of talk in the WSOP events.

This isn't live poker played against other players, this is the table game Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em where are only playing against the dealer's hand. Yeah obviously showing your cards or comparing hands would be a huge no no in an actual Texas Hold 'Em game.
