Hi. I was wondering...
If someone had an eye patch with x-ray vision like Number 2 from Austin Powers, enabling them to see the next card to be dealt from the shoe in blackjack, what would that player's edge be, assuming 8D H17 DAS LS Split to four hands Draw one card only on split aces No resplitting aces?

I dunno but you've given me the idea of wearing a special eye patch that sees specially marked cards while looking like an ordinary eye patch.
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!” She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Would the eye patch only make the next card in the shoe visible, or would all dealt cards, including the dealer's hole card be known?

Hmm...it only shows him looking at the next card in the shoe in the movie, so I guess it would only allow him to see that.

Not at all. Why?
And if I had been high, what's it to you?

Since he wasn't sitting at third base, I think it would vary. Forcing the dealer to bust is a powerful tool. Also playing multiple spots would really be to your advantage as you could make the right hit every time.Quote: etony33Hmm...it only shows him looking at the next card in the shoe in the movie, so I guess it would only allow him to see that.

It doesn't matter what your edge is. Time spent calculating the edge is time not spent betting, which is a waste. You will soon be max-betting and clearing out rack after rack of chips; do you really care if your edge is 30% or 40%? Or 50% or 60%?

I have no clue what the HE would be.
But this is actually not that far fetched. I recently saw an article lf somebody designing some sort of software for Google Glass that can detect face down cards.
Also, google glass can be used to automatically scan all cards on the table and automatically keep count.
When Google glass comes out and is readily available it will make cheating so easy. I wonder if Casinos will let people wear it at tables?

It's already banned pretty much everywhere, in the US at least.

Well that's disappointing. There is so much cool casino software. Everything from roulette motion trackers to predict where ball will land to card readers, to card trackers, to software that keeps track of all cards played and calculates exact count and tells you what to do and what to bet each hand.
If there is a way to wear it in Casinos it would be way better even than the Austin Powers eyepatch. Wearing it in a Casino seems like it would almost be Godmode in a video game, its a shame that they banned it because being able to wear it in casinos would actually make it a decent investment instead of just an expensive toy...

There's no way any casino would allow you to use artificial means to reduce the house edge at all, never mind to give yourself a huge edge. They don't even let you count cards without any assistance, FFS. The only way you would ever be able to get away with it is if the casino had no idea what you were doing.
And even then, if you hit hard 17 enough times and get a 4, ESPECIALLY at a table with a $10,000 minimum like in the movie...it won't be long before you get backed off AT BEST.
