But I am more than content to watch the storm coverage on TV before heading out for my day, which happens to be 70 degrees and sunny here in Vegas.
Good luck to all you folks in the path of Janice.

Cosmopolitan had an outdoor ice rink open on the strip. Not sure if it was just a new years eve thing or open all 'winter'. Lol

Love-love-love brutal winter storms. It's cold anyways, might as well make it FUN!
Quote: IbeatyouracesIt is funny hearing about how people stock up on supplies though as if the apocalypse is coming.
Agreed. So ridiculous.
Even the worst of the worst, the storm of 2000, dropped 35" in an afternoon. Buffalo came to a complete stand still. If you're on your commute, yes, you're screwed. But all the supplies in the world ain't gonna save you (this is the point of "filling up your tank", so you don't get stuck without heat). Even this insane amount of snow was cleared by the next day.
People act like they're gonna get packed in and forgotten until February. It's laughable.
Enjoy, you lucky dogs positively varianced precipitators =p
Quote: FaceBah. Y'all made me check the weather and I see it is all well south of me. Just single digit temps here, which is miserable without snow to play in =(

Do crutches impede your snow shoes ?
Quote: kewljAnd of course filling up your car with gas. Never understood this one. Where do people think they are going?
It's good practice to fill your car with gas before a snowstorm. Of course, it's also good practice to keep your car's fuel tank above half-full at all times in the winter if you live in a cold-weather region. A good rule of thumb in the winter is to treat half as empty.
The reason to keep your tank full is that if you have somewhere to go in an emergency, gas stations may no longer be open. And if you run out of gas in the snow, it could take hours to get a tow truck or even a ride home. Snowstorms and ice on the road also cause traffic jams, which may cause you to run out of gas before you anticipate.
If you live in a rural or spread-out exurban area, having gas in your tank may be the difference between life and death if you blow out a tire or have another minor accident and get stuck out on the road in the snow.
I was glad my car was full of gas after Sandy, when I had no heat, hot water, or power for 9 days. After a while, all my backup batteries were drained, and the only way I could charge my cell phone was by running my car and using the car-charger.
Just FYI, if you ever drive in a cold-weather environment, it's a good idea to keep an emergency kit in your car with candles, flares, blankets, food, and water. Even a single candle can prevent someone from freezing to death in a car.
By the way -- the daily temperature forecast for North Jersey calls for low temps 15 or below every day for the next 10 days.

On behalf of myself and my frozen-toed brothers, I'd like to say... Bite me.
Gladly. But you'll have to wear warm clothes. Are you sending a truck or a plane to pick up that precip?Quote: Knuckleball3Can you East coasters send some of that precipitation this way. Here in So Cal, we are on our 10th straight day of 80 degrees plus.
