The question before those planning to attend is on the location. I'm open to other suggestions, but mine are places we've used before:
Downtown: TRIPLE 7 RESTAURANT AND MICROBREWERY (Main Street Station)-- This is a large bar/restaurant that always has plenty of room, good food, and friendly service. The atmosphere is a classic American brew pub, like you might find back east. I think we've had a couple meetings here before, but none recently. It would be nice to go back.
Strip: I Love Burgers (Palazzo) -- This is a modern clean place in the shopping area above the Palazzo. The atmosphere is similar to a Ruby's, if that comparison is of any help. In other words 50's modern. The portions are smaller and prices higher than you'll find at the Triple 7, but expect to pay more for everything on the Strip. I choose here specifically because it's location doesn't get a lot of foot traffic and thus isn't too crowded, like where we met last year. We've had two WoV gatherings at I Love Burgers and I left happy both times.
I'll be honest with you, I definitely prefer the Triple 7, but I'm not the only vote. Again, I'm open to other suggestions too. I'm sure we'll be back to I Love Burgers for the G2E meet in the fall.

Not exactly sure what you're talking about, strictly? You're offering $250.00 in comps to eat there?
uh oh. We heard this last year. And some if you remeber what happened.Quote: strictlyAPIf it's at I love burgers is be happy to get a comp for the first 250

strictly AP is a longstanding member of the forum. I personally would like to thank him for the offer.
we got what some considered was a legitimate offer last year. And Nareed tore him apart.Quote: SOOPOOstrictly AP is a longstanding member of the forum. I personally would like to thank him for the offer.
What I do know is, at the WoV dinner at G2E, a few of us covered the check at IhBurgers in the end, and I'm not the only one who paid a lot, but it cost me $70 for 2 drinks, 1 ice tea, and a shared appetizer. So I'd welcome the chance to use comps if strickly has some to put into the pot.
Or we could go to the Main Street place, which I haven't seen, and would gladly try. I already promised someone I had to raincheck last week I would show up, so that much I know.
This is from what I can remember and my opinion. Nareed was dead set on having the event at the location she picked and being the hero and star. A member who sounded legit offered to use a very large amount of comps, it was in the thousands of dollars, to cover the bill as long as everyone covered the tip and it didn't go over his 6k(i think) in comps. He said he had a ton of play and would probably never use them all anyways. If it wanst legit no harm, the only thing that would have changed is the location. Someone could have confirmed after the offer was accepted. It seemed Nareed was dead set on making sure it was at that, over priced candy factory place, or what ever its called and that she was running the show. Nareed basically indicated, he was full of it, and didn't want to believe he would be doing such a nice thing and could not or would not honor this . He didn't argue with Nareed or didn't even really try to convince us any different he simply said something like, no worries, offer retracted, I don't need to be insulated when trying to do a nice thing.Quote: strictlyAPRemind me- what happened last year I totally forget
Every Idea was shot down. They had 3 or 4 places offering $20 coin in gets you free lunch. and not crappy bar food like one would think. Even my idea of using the British pub free meal deal for only $20 coin in. And they have some interesting good British food. the cost per meal would be less then a few bucks I think they even had a shuttle or something. I know BJs near the strip had the same type thing along with new members get $20 for $20.

Wow, that sounds like a raw deal! I'm happy to say the only time I shared a meal with WoV members, the tab was not an issue and I believe everyone pitched in appropriately.
I voted Downtown because it'll probably be cheaper and easier to get space. Hopefully if it's at MSS they will let me in the door...
Isn't there a way that everyone can pay for themselves? I mean it is a pain but nobody likes to get shafted especially at a "friendly" get-together?
I'll be at the G2E get together but I'm still in Korea for this one!
Hope everyone has a good time!

That really wasn't my point, or I would have brought it up before now. Not the first time I've covered a check. I just think if people have comps to contribute, let's use them, or pay them something for the comps, not ignore the offer. It's pretty generous of strickly to offer.

You should either look up the thread and see what happened, or check your memory.
I was intent on having the lunch at the one place that guaranteed a reservation for that holiday weekend for that many people without 1) asking for a deposit, 2) requiring a private room, 3) requiring a set menu and a deposit. Not to mention several of my suggestions were shot down, too.
As to the comp offer, I thought it was meant as a joke. Who offers thousands worth of comps for a very simple lunch seriously? I made a joke in return and the other person reacted badly.
As for your opinions, well, opinions are like the human rectum. We all have them, we don't particularly want to see yours.

I'm glad to see my legend can grow far beyond the facts of the case ;)
It reminds of my favorite loosely paired scenes in "Prelude to Foundation":
Dahl resident: "Word on the street is that you killed twenty men."
Seldon: "Certainly not! What do you think we are? Mass murderers?"
Later when Seldon and his comapnions are hiding from the authorities:
Other Dahl resident: "Word on the street is you manhandled a squadron of Sun-badgers and-"
Seldon: "TWO!! Two Sun-badgers!"

And here was what I said in connection with it (notice I never actually addressed the person making the offer):

And that's all I'm going to say on the subject.
Now, if you all want to refight year-old incidents and defame my character, go right ahead. But you'll do so without me.
Hope you make it again this year.
