ya after my vegas trip, i told myself no more (local) casinos....butt ended up at stupid Bike and Commerce again; lost half my winnings from vegas whatevers. I'm going again to commerce soon, but only because a much older gentleman 'friend' of mine wants to go and wants me to go too! He gives me few hundreds in chips and we play at the tables and have fun!!~

k i gotta leave soon off to the casino! hopefully i freakin win something it's been bleh! btw, i still bet on that pair square bet every hand; i got pairs 3 times yesterday; one time, i bet the minimum ($5) on regular hand and like $10-15 on my pair square...and i won some good money just on the pairs! my last hand i said "f**k it" and bet $25 on my pair square...and got perfect pairs! won $625! and then got outta there; i think i told this story before...~ ttyl!

i don't think i will be going to these local casinos again anytime soon...all the tables were sh*t; i finally started winning towards the end and when i bet $25-50/hand instead of my usual $10-15/hand..~

Good call. Save your money for Vegas and real blackjack.

If you must play blackjack in CA, find an Indian casino. They have real Vegas-style blackjack with none of this commission crap. Many of them have really good rules too -- better than Vegas.

I have no idea what's available near LA though.

ya ur right...at first i thought "meh $1/hand isn't bad"...but it actually sucks! because when i don't have $1 or $5 chips, i have to break my $25 to get change to pay the stupid dollar to play; i cannot believe automatic blackjack pays even money whatevers!! ya i been to san manuel it not that far like an hour...~ oh and Crystal Park casino in LA has no collection per hand but that place kind of ghetto bleh

$1 a hand is a lot! If you play for 3 hours that will cost you about $200. It really does add up.

If you are playing $25/hand, paying a $1 commission is worse than blackjacks paying even money. If you're playing $50/hand, paying $1 commission is worse than blackjacks paying 6:5.

Even if you are playing $100/hand, it more than doubles the house edge in any decent game.

Where I live, I drive about an hour and a half to get to an Indian casino (with pretty good blackjack rules). There are CA cardrooms close to me but I will only play poker there. The long drive sucks, though... it means I'll only go if I'm going for most of the day.

Jennie, try Pechanga. I'm not sure where exactly you live but if you are in the LA area it will only be about 30 mins. longer of a drive than San Manuel. Pechanga compares to a mid-upper level LV Strip Casino vs. San Manuel that compares to a lower end Downtown LV joint. I promise you will love it. Very nice, knowledgeable staff and players (for the most part) and much younger, hipper crowd especially on weekends/nights.

Let me know if you have any questions about it, I am there quite a bit.
