Mission, When I talked to the guy I had said I have no idea how many people would be there and I said 20-25. I was kinda on the spot because I was just calling to ask and wasn't expecting him to say they were closed since their site says they are open. I am going to be tied up most of the evening on so I won't be able to call him. Would you mind calling with the details we have by then. I will find out for sure about my wife as well.
Best to let your wife make it a game time decision, you don't want her to say yes now and then feel obligated on Sunday if she is not feeling well.
Am I to call him now, or Tuesday?

You could try now but I don't think he is there. He said he is normally off on Sunday and Monday but he just happened to stop in when I called.

We have fifteen for sure (Mission146, Teddys, AZDuffman, Vendman1, OneNickelMiracle, MWalz9, Mosca, Mrs. Mosca, OdiousGambit, GWAE, Vendman1, JohnnyQ, RaleighCraps, Wrongway and Wudged)
KeyserSoze has not been on since last month, so I don't know what to make of that. DRussell0208 (and significant other) has not been on for a week-and-a-half, so again, can't be sure. It sounds like RDW will be there if he can keep his Monday schedule clean. Wrongway has now confirmed, but we don't know about Mrs. Wrongway.
With that having been said, barring any surprises, our range is going to be 15-20. I very seriously doubt if we will have 20 because that would be KeyserSoze, Mrs. Wrongway and DRussell0208 (along with significant other).
I just hope that it won't be a problem with the restaurant. Right now, I would expect something like 16-18 because I don't think every possible person shows up, but I don't think every possible person fails to show, either.
Quote: Mission146Let me know if any of this is incorrect:
The Sharp Edge: 2 (AZDuffman, OdiousGambit)
DoubleTree: 5 (GWAE, OneNickelMiracle, RaleighCraps, Mission146, Vendman1)

Vendman1 has switched his vote to DoubleTree, since I nominated Sauce and also switched my vote to DoubleTree, I hereby withdraw my nomination of Sauce.
We badly want to be there, Mary Joan is having gambling withdrawals. We were dining at Rustic Kitchen in Mohegan last weekend, and didn't play. She was almost shaking.
Quote: MoscaI'm seeing wintry mix for Sunday. Remember, we're driving across the state.

I would really miss seeing you two again. Hopefully the weather cooperates for us.
I was going to chide you about this ole' southern boy making the drive into the frozen crap, but I lived in your neck of the woods for 40 years, so I know what you will be dealing with, if there is anything coming down. It makes for rough driving through that part of the state.
I am a bit worried about what I might run into coming through the Smokey Mountains though. I've never made a trip on this route, so I'm not sure how high in the mountains it goes.

After Trivia Quiz---HL Slot Pool
I'm guessing official activities will conclude between 6:00-7:00, which is about when I'll have to leave, unfortunately.
Hi guys. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it to the meet and greet. I have been trying to stay away from casinos and the weekend just doesn't work out for me anyways. I hope everyone has a great time and maybe I will be in a better place to go next year. Anyways, play some craps for me while you're there!
Realistically, a major snow event might keep me away. But this doesn't sound like that.
The excellent idea by GWAE has paid dividends as I have called Matthew today and the DoubleTree is reserving us a table in the lounge area large enough for up to 20 people and we will be ordering from the dinner menu. That is scheduled for Sunday at 5:00p.m., so we will plan to leave the casino at 4:30p.m.

That is great. Did he seem to care when you mentioned we may have less especially with the potential weather?
When I spoke with him he was more than eager for the business and was very friendly. Pretty much the exact opposite as the casino.

I let him know that we would have anywhere from 13-18 people depending on the weather is Eastern PA. He asked if the restaurant-area would necessarily need to be open for that amount of people, and I said, "Really, all we want is to all be seated together, doesn't matter where." He then stated that he could easily put us in the lounge at our own large table and assign a waitress to us. (Everyone remember to take care of her!!!)
He was extremely friendly and genuinely seemed happy to have the business. I expect we'll all be very happy with the place.
If I have 50K + webpass points, I assume the best redemption would be to get something early in the day at the foodcourt for $ 10 ( ? ).
Quote: Mission146That's what I'm doing, there are some fish and chips there with my name on them. I'll be getting there between 11:45-Noon if you or anyone else cares to join me for lunch.
If my wife stays home I will join you. I think it is 70/30 against her coming. We have an event to go to Saturday night so our son is staying at grandmas. If she comes then he will be there 2 full days. If we had money to gamble then she would deal with it but I don't think she wants to leave him there just to hang out.

yeah thats probably about the thing to do. If you get up to 75k you could get a $10 gas card I think. If you were planning on eating lunch anyways then that is probably the thing to do.
I really like the burgers in the food court.

LOL. What I read was, "If I have $50K [bankroll], plus webpass points , blah blah get food for $10? My first thought was, Now there is a serious gambler. Bringing $50K and not wanting to over spend a dime of it on food.
Now, if y'all are taking requests, how about working on the weather forecast a bit. I can deal with the cold, but that wintery mix kaka has GOT TO GO!

Yep, actually more like "If I have a $50 bankroll plus enough webpoints to get lunch, any suggestions on what to get with my $ 10 certificate ?

From what the news said this morning it is 50/50. This is one of those storms that depends on which way the jet stream goes. They said if it dips down and the arctic cold comes in then we could see a few inches between sunday late night and monday afternoon. If it goes to the north then we will probably see mostly rain.
It also looks like it was not going to effect folks coming from the east and only a small portion of people coming from the south. For the people driving from the south and heading home after dinner at 6:30 or so. They should be out of the weather area before the snow/rain starts. Only time will tell for sure but I am optimistic that the rain/snow will be here after all drivers are out of the target area.
Quote: RaleighCrapsI regretfully have to pull out of this meet up. IBM is shit-caning a bunch of people today, and I finally won a lottery, although not the right one. Needless to say, the money I was bringing on this trip can no longer be considered disposable gambling money. I am a stupid craps gambler, but I am not a stupid person in financial life, so this trip is out. Sorry for the last second bailout.
Sorry to hear that, good luck in the search. Been there 5-6 times the last 5 years, can't even remember how many without pencil and paper.
I'm sorry to hear that and hope you find something else soon, please make sure to call and cancel your reservations or they will charge you for the first night.
You never know, things change. They certainly did today. Carpe diem.
Quote: RaleighCrapsThanks guys. I have a different past. I have been with one company for 33 years. I probably would have been retired in 2012, but ibm has been pretty busy screwing us out of our pensions. In 2000, they made pension plan changes which had the effect of reducing my pension by 40%, which meant retiring last year was out of the question. So, it is close. I am going to try and retire, and attempt to make money day trading to fill the gap. If I am successful, then craps may still be a possibility in the future. But the reality is more likely I have probably played my last game of craps.

Screw that, do what you love! You can live in Vegas extremely cheap, learn how to AP some VP, keep your Craps play under control and manage one of the hotels out there. No hotel experience? Doesn't matter. Not with what you've done.
You say it's over, my friend, and for you, this is your chance for it to really begin!
Quote: onenickelmiracleWe're hurting now. Raleighcraps was our main attraction.
Agreed he had such good craps tales. I was looking forward to playing with him and maybe learning something. You'll be missed Raleighcraps.

Raleigh,
I retired early, and learned to live with reduced income, somewhat reluctantly. But it was a great decision; there is so much more out there than you can imagine. You have many talents and interests, and with a pension underneath you, you do have some freedom to explore other things. Please try to look at this as an opportunity, because it is, even disguised as a setback you didn't feel ready for. You can do it, hon!
Just remember Big Corporations love you. Never could convince operators with over 25 years that they should have married a man, not the company. When they had to move at their own expense three times in 5 years to get their pension, their attitudes changed.
Quote: onenickelmiracleI'm already getting the "please don't goes". I'm not worried about snow and will just drive carefully or wait until it's safe. If enough have trouble, I think we can just reschedule or have two meets perhaps.
the local news this morning said tonights 11 o clock news will have a good idea of whats going to happen. As of right now it is all speculation. I have been optimistic about the snow but I don't know now.
The online places like weather.com or weatherbug say there will be snow from 11am Sunday until Monday afternoon but the local news says there will be minor snow sunday night and heavy snow around 2am. If its the latter we should be good to go.

There's probably no reason not to do two of these per year in the first place, perhaps September for the second one?
September is a good time of year, but not September 20-24 when I'm in Atlantic City.Quote: Mission146There's probably no reason not to do two of these per year in the first place, perhaps September for the second one?

Maybe there should be a WoV North East get-together.
I'm still in unless the weather report changes to something ridiculous like 3 feet expected beginning Sunday morning. I will be on interstates almost the entire way which are usually kept pretty clean, especially when a large amount is expected.
