I am interested in going. Sunday will probably be better than Thursday for me, and I'm pretty flexible as to the Casino. I guess Rivers or Meadows if I had to vote but they're both nearly the same distance for me. If it falls on my birthday I will expect good gifts from everyone who attends.

I'm also going to set the date for March 2nd, 2013 and an initial meeting time of 1:00p.m., provided nobody has any serious pre-existing problem with that date or time. It'll be a late lunch and early dinner sort of thing.
If any of you would care to arrive earlier and make plans amongst yourselves to do so, obviously I would strongly encourage anyone to do that. In all likelihood, I will be working until 4:00a.m. the night before, so I'll be ambling in almost exactly on time.

Maybe. Rivers is doable, the WVa casinos are too far. Either Sunday or Thursday works, any of the dates are fine at this time.

Probably I don't see why not. Set it and if it fits, I'll be there. Meadows would be my first choice and rivers second because I think video poker is available for those who would care to play "nothing good". 8/5 DDB progressive quarter is the best I know of but Im not the expert of what's best.

Yeah, this gathering won't be a prime drinking opportunity for me either. From my house to Pittsburgh is around 190 miles.
The Vegas plan sounds great. But I can't pour 30 drinks down my pie hole like you did at Chi Brew Co.

what is your career choice? Not that I care but I am curious since I didn't already know.
Mission, I will probably be in. My vote is for the Meadows.
As for food options. The meadows has the Terrace which is Meh but decent I guess. The wheelhouse at the rivers is much better but I hate that place. The Meadows is geared towards low ballers like myself.
WV may be too far for me. My wife will be 9 months pregnant so that may get in the way.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed.

I'm afraid I won't be making it to this one. I will be on a Sunday-to-Sunday trip to Las Vegas & Laughlin in mid-February, so there likely would be a conflict.
While I have driven to each of those casinos before, it was never on a 1-2 day trip from home. And those locations are in "the north" from my perspective, and I don't generally drive that direction in the winter. Now if you had in mind a little get-together maybe 400 miles to the south (say in Cherokee, NC) then I would be up for it most any time I'm not on another trip. In fact, I'll be heading there on a day-trip again this Saturday.

Google Maps says the difference is only about 20 minutes. Which is the nicer casino? I grew up in Allegheny County, but haven't been back since my brother passed in 2009.

Pittsburgh is about 4 hours from me, but I've been meaning to make a trip to Rivers anyway to check it out.
I know it's March but PA can have some crazy weather. I may be in depending on the outlook.

Im a possible for February 9 or 23. If Face is driving with me picking up gas/tolls/etc... that increases my odds of coming.....

Rivers is nicer than Meadows, but that's also occasionally reflected in the Table Minimums.
Now, if we want to eat somewhere other than the casino itself, I think Rivers is a much better choice because it is right in the heart of Pittsburgh whereas you have to go across a busy highway to really get anywhere from Meadows...from Rivers...we could just walk somewhere.
Not only is that a very safe area in Pittsburgh to walk during the day, but we'd also be a large group, anyway.

I don't think anyone would disagree that Rivers is the nicest of all those casinos, and it's also where we had the last WovCon East.

I've gone about as far as I can go with Horseshoe Cleveland. I've made Seven Stars, and they've really tightened up their promotional stance lately. They were REALLY good for a while. (Cincinnati was even better).

Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino, Racetrack really isn't THAT bad...Okay, it is, but it's not. I think I just like it because it is probably one of the only casinos in the world where, more often than not, I know I am nearly indisputably the most knowledgeable gambler there. That's not really saying much, though.
Like those Venice Nights and Money Works machines, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS at least one with Wilds left behind, it's just silly.

I prefer Rivers and Sunday. Rivers to me just is nicer and has better bar areas for us to gather. We might be able to get a reserved table at the Spiral Bar earlier in the day. Dining options are also better IMHO, though I will meet at wherever we choose.

I would attempt to make the 500 mile drive, if the date works out. However, Feb is mostly out for me, and as an ex 40 year resident of PA, I'm not keen on planning a trip driving in that state in Feb. As an official old fart now, I hate driving in snow and/or slush. I'm not lobbying for any date though, since my plans won't be known until the last second. I am one of those (Probably Others) that would try to be there, if I can.

Sounds like similar reservations on the part of two old fogies from NC. Why don't you just join me at Cherokee this Saturday? Just a day trip for us this time, and we'll probably be there from noon until six or so.

Thanks to Mosca for sending me a heads-up on Facebook about this thread. Count me in for sure. I love The Meadows and I consider ti my home casino, but I'll drive the extra 20 minutes North so Mosca can attend. Put me down for sure and The Rivers as my vote!

I have not been to any of the casinos and won't vote. I leave it to others regarding the smoking as I am only bothered by the worst situations [I guess it'd be good to hear it's not the worst, if anybody knows]
I think we should address the parking situation in particular, making sure we don't get gouged.
btw, at a racetrack once, it crossed my mind that the people collecting some of the parking charges were pulling a scam.
