I dont know why it makes me sad, because I never knew this guy, but I did partially read some of his posts on the patrick board.
His posts were long meandering and quirky....Yet never threatening or mean spirited
I remeber patrick once threatend to delete him if he mentioned buddhism again, after he mentioned it once on that website where christ rules.
But he seemed to be a decent guy, who talked about getting free flights to casinos..so he must have been a high roller.
I could always count on seeing his thread whenever I went to that site.
now hes gone
as we all will be at some time
RIP
she leaves this veil of tears first ?
Beautiful when we were 28 and 18. But now at 73 and 63 ? Definitely a different prism !

Thinking about it, I guess what makes me sad about this gentleman is the thought that my name can dissapear any day. It happens to all of us. I am reminded of my own mortality.
When driving into vegas, and viewing all the bbillboards of all the top of the line performers appearing.....I sometimes think....in 40 years there will be a new complete set of different names, and no one will know who the fk Penn and Teller is or was. Life goes on, and the next new best thing comes along.

The odds must be pretty good that some members on this board have passed away. I remember a couple of them mentioning health problems. Still others have just disappeared, not that it means they died.

Yeah, unless they have shared other contact info with other forum members, it's hard to say. :( People just sometimes up and leave without fanfare either. Some people on my private poker forum have left over the years, but I still see them on 2+2 poker forum every once in awhile.

There are always those mysteries. Like sheetwise just disappearing after a ton of posts.
And I have no idea who that old bastard is in the mirror when I shave.
Quote: BuzzardYou really start to feel old when your heroes die. Tuff guys in movies now are huge and maybe part android or something. As A kid tuff guys in movies were Edward G Robinson, James Cagney, and James Cagney. Mickey Mantle and Johnny Unitas are gone. Brooks Robinson still here at age 76. My first TV hero's were Paladin and Maverick. Richard Boone is gone, James Garner is 85.

I sjare your felings. In the early 70's there was this move "Love Storey" which I never saw. However it was a big deal and the actress Ali Macgraw was on all the talk shows Like Merve, Mike Douglas,Carson,. She was joung and cute, and kind of looked like miss all america.
The movie poster was everywhere and is plastered in my mind. I havent seen her ever since(she may have been in other movies, but none I ever saw). So all of a sudden there is a "where are they now" section on the news and she is 75 years old.
Same with music. I mean I have seen the stones age over the years so there is no shock. But I remember also in the late 70's(or early 80's) the band Cheap trick...I havent seen what they look like for 30 years..then a couple years back I see them on a PBS special......and I say to myself....wtf....when did they get old. They used to look so young and energetic and now looked bloated.
And the answer is of course...they all got old..............................along with me

Can add Lawrence of Arabia and Billy Jack to that list. Not that Lawrence was really a Tough guy but trying to stay topical.
Also I didn't know they had a running death pool going on Diversity tomorrow until I went thee last week and saw a few people happy about getting Mandela. Maybe there were a couple more "scores" today.
Quote: 98ClubsYeah Peter O'Toole (LoA reference above?) and Ray Price today.
Peter O'Toole was completely my favorite actor for, I don't know, decades. Did not know he was gone until I saw this.
The Lion in Winter
The Stunt Man
My Favorite Year
So Damn Good. RIP and Thank You.
