High winds last night 5000
without power.
Quote: Joeman76° F this afternoon, 32° F tomorrow morning in NE Florida.
Oooh 32
In Vegas and luckily above 32 at its lowest but just barely
A below 32 night is a bite for me
Means I have to disconnect my water hose.
Means when I get up in the morning, cant just take a hot shower
Have to get dressed up and go outside in the cold and hook up my water again
Been living in a RV 6 months and only had to unhook the hose twice.
Moving south for warmer weather in a few weeks
I used to work almost every X-mas. I would trade any Saturday shift I was assigned with a Christian colleague.
I hope to be in warmer climes next X-mas....

. I have friend who had condo on Long Boat Key. He now lives in Sarasota. I liked visiting him on LBK but it was just too congested for my liking. I wasn’t a big fan of the limited amount of Sarasota I saw.Quote: DeMangoOne word: Sarasota
It will most likely either be the Villages or Naples. We will see which wife picks! (Most recent bet is the Villages).

I have looked at Siesta Key which is right outside Sarasota.

What about Naples did you like? I wasn't a big fan of Naples. My parents live in Cape Coral so I have spent a bunch of time in that area.

A bald retired Jewish doctor
in the Villages. You should
wear one of those flags
on a long pole that people
put on their cars so they can
find them in parking lots. So
your wife can find you among
all the other retired bald Jewish
doctors in the Villages.
If I were a bit richer and wanted to be retired, I'd look at Anthem, Nevada.

Too cold for me.

As long as it’s not raining I’m going in!
I’m guessing DRich might find 20 in a bathing suit a tad cold.
Quote: SOOPOOThis summer I bought an outdoor hot tub. Called a ‘Tuff spa’. As I’m doing close to nothing during winter/pandemic, there is something wonderful about going out in 20 degree weather in a bathing suit, and getting in. It is so damn comfortable... but as soon as I’m in I am ruing the thought of ever getting out!

My wife was saying that we should go in ours this weekend. I plan on trying to resist her because the high is only 54 on Saturday. Of course getting in isn't the problem.
BTW, who said that I wear a bathing suit?
so far. The birds are in a frenzy at
the feeder, I got another one
coming so I don't have to go
out there so often.

What's a 'Bisbee'. Sounds like a
bad skin rash. I was in the
bushes and got bisbee on my
leg..

Bisbee night temps in the winter are pretty cold. I see it will be in the 30s all this week and right at freezing tonight. Daytimes in the 50s and 60s. Is it higher elevation that makes it cool off so much?

It's 55 as I type at 930 AM and will go up to 72, according to Siri., with a low of 46 overnight. I have no idea why the weather is what it is, it simply is. I'm sure the locals will say it's because the place is so magical, only they spell magic with a k.
Elevation is everything down this way. Havasu is at 500 ft. and is always warmer than Flagstaff or Bisbee. Death Valley California is -282.2 ft,Quote: vegasBisbee night temps in the winter are pretty cold. I see it will be in the 30s all this week and right at freezing tonight. Quote: kewljI love living in Vegas every day of the year but it is days like this... That I look at the map of what the rest if the country is going through with snow and cold, that I am a little extra grateful I am here and not.. "there".
In general I agree but it is still a little cold for me.

We had a foot of snow last 24 hours. My northern suburb of Buffalo only averages maybe 4 feet a year. Roads uneventfully plowed. No power outages. Driveway snowblowed. Other than it looking pretty it really is a big nothing. I think it was high 20’s last few days. But supposed to get really cold tonight... maybe 8 or 9 degrees. I’m hoping to go sit in my hot tub. Great except for the 15 seconds between hot tub and when I get in the house!

When are you moving to Florida? Is there an event you are waiting on before moving? You could be golfing every day and not shoveling snow.
- 11 celsium and its icy everywhere. I hate winters, dream to african :D

I’m not making travel plans until wife has at least gotten 1st shot, and then we will have a firm date for second shot. Plus we have her daughters still living with us. So a tad more complicated than just leaving.

The shot makes sense. I didn't realize that you still had kids living with you. Have you decided on your Florida location yet?

Wellllll...... since this is the ‘How cold is it thread’.... No! I think we will pick the Villages, but Naples still in play. Wife gets daily ‘houses available’ sent to her via email. I think for me having essentially unlimited golf courses included makes the Villages a great deal. Golf in Naples will likely cost me an additional $10k a year. Butttttt.... my wife thinks 80 is a cold day.... Naples is warmer in the winter..... Naples is more expensive house for house. My older son lives 1 hour from the Villages.
Betting odds. Villages 75%. Naples 25%. Hopefully we will be down there in a month or two....

I hate FL for 4 reasons, not in this
order. Too many people, and too
many of them old. Too much
traffic caused by people.
Too many bugs 365 days a year.
The whole state is butt ugly. Flat
as a pancake, it's all palm tree's
and strip malls. And freeways.
And rain.
Last but not least, the humidity.
Winter and summer. Feels like
I can't breathe. My dad lived in
FL in the winters and I hated
visiting him. I swore I would
never live there.
And no good casinos in FL.
They all drive to the Gulf
coast in MS for casinos. Way
too far for me.
If I had to live someplace warm
in the winter it would be Hawaii.
Gorgeous year round.
I looked at my thermometer this morning and it says 15 degrees. I turned on The Weather Channel and it says a town 20 miles away is at 3 degrees.
Quote: ChumpChangeFlorida is the lightning capital of the country. I'd avoid the state for that reason alone. But there's hurricanes, tornadoes, deluges, and oppressive muggy heat.
You're lucky if you have to use
Orkin once in your life. In FL
you keep Orkin on your speed
dial. Men retire at 50 millionaires
for staring a bug company at
25.
Maybe we can arrange a trade. I'll gladly take a few snow days in exchange for getting rid of the bugs & humidity!Quote: DRichI would take bugs and humidity 365 days a year to avoid one single day of snow.
BTW, we might not see the extreme weather that the rest of the country seems to be going through, but ours is no less wacky:
Today's high: 56° F
Tomorrow's high: 81° F
Friday afternoon high: 56° F
It's much more reliable for predicting the
weather than using the equinox as a guideline.
It runs March April and May. Meteorological
summer is June July and August. So the real
spring it's finally here.
