Coincidentally, board member Jimmer will also be there that weekend, and he started a thread on which many good suggestions for first-timers have been posted. Thanks to all who chimed in.
We'd love to meet up with any WOVers who might be in the area. Feel free to post here or PM me. Also, we'll be tweeting extensively while we're there, so if you're not sure what your plans might be, you can follow us @YouCanBetonThat.
AC, baby!

We aren't that far, but after the week in Las Vegas our bank accounts need to rest. I do have a $300 slot ticket for Revel that I need to go back and cash, though...
But here's some tourist advice. A few years ago I created a Google AC tourist map. I linked it and it generated a discussion in this thread:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/other-casinos/5746-atlantic-city-casinos-and-points-of-interest-map/
Also, as craps players who are inclined to make toke bets, here's an interesting tidbit: tokes placed on the inside numbers are rounded UP! Discussed here:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/tables/9306-best-dealer-toke-craps-place-1-on-5-6-8-and-9-pays-2-and-piggyback-it/
Good luck and have fun!
AC Weekly lists all of the current casino promotions and upcoming events.
You'll be there with the big NJEA convention. Be sure to say high to all the teachers.Quote: ahiromuI'll be there Thursday-Friday this week, pretty good deal through the Atlantic Club. 9/6 JoB with .2% cash back and 1.2% comp dollars... plus room. They have 3x comps on Thursdays, otherwise I'd be there over the weekend.
By the way, CZR is dumping the Claridge (even with the partial renovation) on some hotel company from Clearwater, FL.
Quote: YouCanBetOnThatHey, gang. If you listen to our podcast, you know that Dr. Mike and I will be heading to Atlantic City over Veterans Day weekend (Nov. 8 - 11, 2013). It's our first ever trip to AC, so we're really looking forward to it.
Coincidentally, board member Jimmer will also be there that weekend, and he started a thread on which many good suggestions for first-timers have been posted. Thanks to all who chimed in.

AC, baby!
Mark DeVol and Dr. Mike,
An AC meetup with my favorite gambling podcast hosts? I'm in!
I've gotten so many hours of enjoyment out of listening to your podcasts (I've listened to all 31 podcasts at least twice, mostly on my drive down to AC fron NYC), so I figure this is a good time to give back.
---
I would like to invite you guys to play Pai Gow Tiles (if you haven't played the game before) at Caesars AC (or any casino of your choosing; all Caesars properties have the game). Your first green chip bet and your first round of banking is on me (I have a great story of how banking one particular hand at Foxwoods and double copying the dealer won me $5,000).
But what I really want to do is try to break that kid's roll in Las Vegas and roll nine or more 4's. Let's press that 4 up to table max!
Plus we can get a pink chip $7.50/$15 10-Game going with HORSE, Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw, 5 Card Draw Hi-Lo, Pineapple, whatever home games you play!
---
FYI, here are some promotions around town.
All four AC Caesars properties have a 10X reward credit multiplier on Thursdays. So if you earn 10,000 reward credits on Thursday night (through 6AM Friday) you get credited with 100,000; have you guys considered arriving 11/7?
Borgata will upgrade both of you (show your Seven Stars and Diamond cards) to Black Label (2nd highest tier player's card) and will give you $200 free slot play and VIP Lounge access (better than any CET Diamond Club in the country)
(link) http://www.theborgata.com/casino/my-borgata-rewards/black-label-trade-up
Tropicana is offering a 150% loss rebate on slot machines, up to $1,000 for new player's card sign ups or inactive players.
Revel, Trump Taj Mahal/Plaza, Atlantic Club and Golden Nugget offer nominal free slot play amounts for signing up for a player's card. Worth picking up if you are planning to visit all the casinos.
---
I was just in Harrah's/Harveys Lake Tahoe for 5 days, so we should have a few stories to share. I hit a 5 point (8 total points) fire bet at Harveys, but 3/4/5 odds, meh, could've offered 5X or 10X.
See you guys in AC!

Yeah, I saw that post earlier. I hope it's still true. (Has anybody tried it lately?)

Pai Gow Tiles, huh? Okay. I guess it's time we bit the bullet. I'll download an app so we can start practicing. I made a lame attempt to learn about 15 years ago, but didn't pursue it. I'll make sure Dr. Mike spends some time learning on our plane trip as well.

As long as it's got Badugi and 2-7, Dr. Mike will hate it. I'm in.

Thanks for the promo information, especially for Borgata and The Trop!
See you soon!

As I understand it, it's the result of some legal action. I don't know if the action was brought by a player or dealer, but the tokes are rounded up in every casino in AC. However, players are strongly advised to make proper bets for themselves, and some casinos do not allow the tokes to be piggy-backs.
But yeah, it still works.
And ditto for toke odds bets.
Quote: YouCanBetOnThatThanks for listening! Glad you're enjoying the show.

PGT is just like one of your aforementioned dead (or dying) games, 9's Up, except with dominoes!
Quote: DJTeddyBearplayers are strongly advised to make proper bets for themselves
From what I've seen, players are required to make proper bets. They will not allow a $10 place 6 as many other jurisdictions will allow.
I will be in town on the 10th and 11th. If there is some kind of meetup I could try to make it.
Quote: chaunceyb3Can you tell me where you got this information? Is this current? I know they had this in the past but stopped it. perhaps they brought it back. Do u have a link or the source this information came from? is it currently posted in the casino or on some ad?Quote: YouCanBetOnThat

*Warning* I hope to save someone some time and or money...some of the information above is incorrect. Tropicana dose NOT have any loss rebates for new or existing members you get 5 bucks in free play. It has been the same for month's. I thought perhaps he meant for this new month of November. Unless the card booth was lying to me on multiple occasions.Quote: chaunceyb3Quote: YouCanBetOnThatHey, gang. The borgata only gave 100 in free play however that could have been a mistake.
The whole Diamond Club card process at the Tropicana has been totally screwed up for some time. And no one in control appears to give a hoot about that.Quote: AxelWolfTropicana dose NOT have any loss rebates for new or existing members you get 5 bucks in free play. possibly, however I just want to get to the the bottom of things on the lossrebate. I keep getting conflicting information from players vs the casino. I have went in person and have called repeatedly and asked many employees . I know some 3rd party websites claim they have this promotion however im thinking they have miss information and it's just being repeated. IM not trying to be right, I just dont want to be wrong and miss a good opportunity. I find it strange someone did this in October (I think they are mistaking). I asked management point blank and she said this ended prior to September. Which makes sense, concidering..... I asked and played at that time and got the same constant story from the the casino.Quote: SanchoPanzaThe whole Diamond Club card process at the Tropicana has been totally screwed up for some time. Pai Gow Tiles is a great choice. Relatively slow play, and lots of pushes.
It's great for socializing.
In Sept, those of us in Vegas for G2E had dinner on Wednesday, then went to Harrah's to play Tiles. It was great fun.

It really was. I didn't think I'd enjoy PGT, but playing non-solo is much more fun. It seems to be part of the game that everyone debates their set with the other players.
