I posted the same question 6 months ago and then again 3 months ago.
Are you up or down so far in 2013 (January through September)? Still down for me.

I am having a real nice year, overall. If the year ended today, it would be my best year ever as far as blackjack results and second best in total AP results. But all of my blackjack win occurred in one five week period, about 7000 rounds. For the entire rest of the year (47,000 rounds), I am in the red.
So even though a strong year, the last 3 months have really had a negative feel to them. A real stuck-in-the-mud, going nowhere, frustrating feeling. I have to remind myself that the year as a whole is real strong.
I would really like to have a decent fourth quarter and push to new heights. :-)

Up right around where I should be. I would have been up more if that guy didn't take the dealer's break card 3 months ago. It threw everything off I tell ya. :-)

Up for the year, still down for lifetime. My lifetime losses are less than $5,000 but I don't have 100% certainty what they are.
This year, I'm up a couple thousand bucks. I was up a lot more before June, but I lost about $3,000 progress.
All of it hill of beans in the grand scheme of things for me.
My daily ups and downs are about 20% of my lifetime losses on some days. So I still have hope to be a lifetime winner if I don't screw it up!!!

Down 320.00 for 2013.
Losses include NCAA Tournament parlays and 20 bucks to keep my $284.00 in Total Rewards Resort Credit.
2 trips still to go, but I am in top card playing form from 2 months of training for now and have been improving my control of the game. Along the line of bankroll management, improvements are seen. If live casino play follows the training trends, 30 minutes of play every 3 hours will net me 4000 per month, per trip, here on out.
Lifetime winner with 10-15k breathing room.

Only 1 gambling trip so far for the year. Down on my Super Bowl bet and 1 trip to Vegas. Hopeful that my Oakland A's 12/1 ALCS champ and 25/1 World Series win will payoff. That will put me a lifetime overall win on sports betting.

Up about $2k this year. Down $2k from actual gambling, up $4k from sucking out the offers that the gambling has generated.
Edit: about even, I guess, counting the cost of gambling-related travel.

I'm probably down $500, but considering the low limits I play, that's pretty bad.
My problem is I enjoy playing the games too much, winnings be damned. I set my limit, bring it to the casino, and end up playing nonstop until it's all gone.
no regrets, though.

Three dollar royals this year. (I almost never play dollars). Sloooowly giving it all back. (And hopefully making Seven Stars in the process).

After starting the first half of the year red hot I cooled off and broke even for a few months. Now slowly climbing up and hoping for my first six figure year.

Down about 60. That's about 20 per visit to the local Seminole Hard Rock Tampa on 3 trips. I only really hit it for the buffet and afterwards limit video poker to 20 bucks due to terrible payout tables, 97 %.
Haven't gotten to Vegas yet this year for some real gambling but now have 2 trips scheduled. Be there Nov 2 to 7 and just scheduled a Dec 21-25 trip.
I generally vacation at music festivals until the end of the year when I generally make a Nov and Dec Vegas trip.

If you count comps as +EV, down about 200.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

if you were up, would you count comps too?

Yeah, I would definitely count comps if I were up. I got 11 nights in a minisuite (2 rooms, family was there with me), all my meals paid, all drinks free, expedited handling in/out, resort fees paid, a large chunk of cash from the cage just for showing up. Certainly all of that would cost a couple thousand if I were just Jane Plain. I tipped more than 200, but included that in my losses, gave them a healthy ADT each night even when I had to lose sleep to play. Airplane was on bonus miles, G2E was complimentary. All told, well worth the effort, but of course I would have preferred to come home with winnings as well.

Wow! Those are nice comps. Can you say how you did it? Do you have a host? Were the comps up front or at the end of your stay? Did you ever try for airfare? Do you have a history with one particular casino? What games do you play and at what level? How many hours?
I don't play the comp game myself but there are many posters who have questions on this subject and your answers could be helpful. If you find any of this too personal to answer that's fine.

Just me, maybe, but comped meals and rooms that would not be in the picture if it were not for gambling, I don't think anyone should count.
Free play etc is another matter.
As for me, I figure the latter-type comps in for an EV calculation, but that's it. I'm down for the year -$361 and that is totally cash-in vs cash-out, no other expenses or comps figured in.

I never count comps as the things I am comped I would not spend money on anyway. If I did not get free rooms and food, I would not be in a casino other than for a day trip. The concerts I get tickets for are comped - I would not spend money for 99% of the concerts I go to but, for free, why not enjoy an evening.

I'm a middle fish to them, not a whale. I get airfare to Tahoe, Laughlin, Tunica, AC, but not Vegas that I recall. I'm an "iron-butt" player (family joke); I'll play PaiGowPoker or UTH 12-14 hours a day if I'm in a position to do so; if the tables are bad, I'll go hit the slots for 1/2 hour to an hour, get the BR back up (for some reason this works pretty consistently for me: chances are the slots, not the table play, are what gets me the good comps, though I expose a lot more money to the tables than the slots).
I get invited to fun table tournaments, which I sometimes attend; for several years I came out for the 100K PaiGow tournament at the LVHilton, but if they're still running one, I don't get notified any more. To be fair, I haven't played at the LVH since about 2007. I really enjoy when Harrah's/Caesar's runs a roulette tournament, BJ is ok but I usually don't do those, don't recall ever responding to a slots tournament invite.
I came out for a full comped NASCAR weekend once and ended up giving away the pit passes; I was living in Daytona Beach at the time and 15 years of the 500/400 was enough without the Vegas race. But at least that one involved limos from the airport and all track transportation; I like it when they take the hassles off your hands.
I took my mom to Barry Manilow in AC on their dime and had very nice seats. I also went up there for my host's 25th anniversary party and that was a lavish Greek feast and live dance, with Michael Constantine as the emcee. They've also sent me on a 7 day cruise.
I don't go looking for hosts; either they find me while I'm playing, or the pit supervisors look at my play and tell me to go get a host. Once I have one, I have a friendly relationship but I don't ask for a lot; they just seem to throw things at me. All the comps I listed above were offered in advance of my trip, and are pretty much what I get offered on a continuing basis.
