So much for being "respectful" and "polite". *facepalm*

So you've been here 10 days and you read all
12,000 of my posts. How flattering. Obviously
you have no idea what you're talking about.
The future of this thread for the next 30 days.
He is tired of people hiding behind the 4th Amendment. I am people, a veteran people. Tree and my ex-wife Babs the only people who took offense at his position. How dare an American citizen avail himself of the Bill of Rights ?
Z's position is too mainstream today. And I am sure shared by a number of policemen. Worse yet Z thinks he is right.
Lately I turn off the Sunday news shows when it gets to the end and they scroll down the names and/or pix of those brave young men who died the previous week defending our rights. Including the 4th amendment.
If you have nothing to hide, let the police search your house, car , bedroom, etc. Go ahead and let them Z in your case. But if I exercise my rights, don't imply I or anyone else is guilty of some crime !
Quote: BuzzardPeople say stupid things in the heat of the moment. Bye Bye treetop. But what bothers me about this thread is something Z said.

My implication was that he is FALSLY trying to hide behind search and seizure laws. He's a drug dealer that got caught and is going to wine about how it wasn't fair that he got caught. And you seem to believe his story. Cry me a river.
If his story is 100% true, that he did absolutely nothing, was a perfect gentleman and gave absolutely no reason for the Police Officer to suspect him, then he is right and I am wrong. I would be willing to be a lot of money that's not the way it went down though.

Think of how lucky that cop had to be if this
was just a random guess on his part. I still
maintain that cops have better things to do
than have somebody follow them for 80
miles if they don't have probable cause. He'd
get away with that maybe twice, before his
superiors told him to knock it off if he wasn't
getting results.
" My implication was that he is FALSLY trying to hide behind search and seizure laws."
What part of the 4th amendment don't you understand ?
Time to get out the rubber hoses and if he confesses, well the cops were right. Screw the 5th amendment too.
Just as asinine as saying PEOPLE trying to hide behind the Bill of Rights.
PS any readers FALSLY was capitalized by Z , not me.
How does one FALSLY exercise his constitutional rights as an AMERICAN citizen ?

It is YOU who should be crying, Zcore13.
Show us how "He's a drug dealer that got caught."
He got "caught" dealing drugs, did he?
Why wasn't he arrested then?
Where is it a crime to be in a car with baggies, a sealer, and containers with a dank odor?
It ain't a crime.
Never was, never will be: they need the weed to succeed.
No, your post is basically "Karma's a bitch," and not a well-reasoned thought piece.

I should hope people here are a little thick skinned. You can always block a poster or a thread.
But most people will slow down on the highway to look at an accident.
In this case, it was an accident about to happen !
SNAP !

That made me laugh. I do like a good debate. However, what I do not like to see in one is a bunch of juvenile mocking. That DID happen several times throughout the conversation.
It didn't really need to be an accident about to happen. It happened, because most everybody was completely mocking Tree. Granted, he did seem to go off the deep end a bit at the end, but there is only so much a person can take.

I think Treetop made a crucial mistake in the original post with about half the forum members (or more).

You obviously somehow still believe his story. There is no right that says you are free to break the law, arouse suspicion from an officer that deals with that stuff every day and get caught.
Again, the chances of Tree's version being true are slim and none and you still believe it???

There are no rights Buzzard. They have been suspended again with the ndaa, if someone has no rights then attempting to exercise them is false.
Not too many dots missing with that statement.

My tolerance with drug dealers is Zip, Can take credit for putting one in jail, another in the hospital.
Actually taking American Politics class. First chapter was the Constitution. Amazed at how dumb some of the kids were in on-line discussion.
Did not expect adults here to think the 4th Amendment was just a bullshit excuse for drug dealers.
Or as Z core said dealers or people hiding behind it.
Got many relatives in law enforcement and respected almost all in that line of work.
But there are BULlYS WITH A BADGE too. Not saying this Cop was one.
Am saying that NO ONE can FALSELY exercise his rights as an AMERICAN citizen !

They can try and falsely hide behind a right that doesn't exist. Most likely he did something to make the officer suspect him of something. They are trained for this. His right of protection against illegal search and seizure no longer exists when he is suspected of committing a crime. He chose to risk his rights for whatever he was doing. He took the risk and he failed. There's no crying in drug dealing.
ZCore13
What a concept. That logic sure worked at the Salem Witch Trials.

I can't believe how many people automatically believe his story, too. His behavior in this thread alone should have been a red flag.

Exactly. He has serious anger problems, as being suspended
4 times this year indicates. You just know he had to get pissed
at the cop and that sealed his fate.
Quote: BuzzardStill waiting to hear how anyone can FALSELY exercise his rights as an AMERICAN citizen ? ? ? ? ?
Easy. If I'm guilty of slander & libel, then I can't try to hide behind the 1st Amendment.
Is there ANY doubt that, if they could have charged him, they would have? I can't imagine there is; certainly that was their intent. So where do they get off keeping the money? How do they justify searching him, seizing his assets, any of it, when they didn't have enough evidence to charge him?
If they had thrown him in jail for breaking the law, that's on him, and his lawyer, and the story doesn't get told here. But for them to treat him like an ATM that just happened to drive by at the right time, that's corruption. And in the sequence of events as TTB reported it, they certainly violated his constitutional rights. But at this point, it would cost him all of it just to get it back. And for something that's legal in one form or another in 20 states and the District of Columbia. Really, it's pretty outrageous.
Quote: Zcore13Most likely he did something to make the officer suspect him of something.
I'm kind of sorry I deleted my long post at being stopped and frisked by LVPD for looking in a store window. This thread was a pissing contest and I decided not to add to it. It might sound absurd reason to stop someone, but I even filed a complaint against the officer, and ended up dealing with their internal affairs officer. How forgetting I left my pocket knife in my coat pocket almost got me a pile of shit for "lying" to a police officer. I hadn't even worn the coat in awhile for at least a week, so when I made that critical error about telling him I had no weapons on me and he throws my knife up on the hood of his car, my heart dropped.
And if you wonder how you can be stopped for looking in a store window, I was reading an ad on the window of a store that had been robbed more than once (which I didn't know). And I was walking home from going to the 7/11 on the corner pass the closed shopping complex and the cop decided I must be up to no good.
That's the gist of it though.
Quote: beachbumbabsHow do they justify searching him
If he reeked of pot, acted like he was high, exhibited any other type of strange behavior, etc.
Not saying that this is what happened, but this is what could have made the cop suspicious. A lot of people in this thread have been all too happy to jump on the "THE COP VIOLATED THE 4TH AMENDMENT!!!" bandwagon.
It seems like there is a presumption of guilt on this forum, rather than a presumption of innocence, which apparently proved true, as there were no charges.
Because I wasn't there. Neither was anybody else on this forum.Quote: beachbumbabs...then why speculate that he reeked or acted high?
Plus, if TREEvon Martin consented to driving 80 miles—which he did—then why speculate that the cop abused his authority? (That's a rhetorical question for all of you nitpickers out there...lol)
My personal opinion though is that he had been acting (to the cop) the same way he was acting here, and the cop wanted to make his life miserable because of it. And he succeeded.
