Downtown Vegas is no more dangerous then any other downtown.
Walking downtown anywhere, gotta keep your wits about you. Gotta use common sense and survey your surroundings for potential trouble and avoid it.
My opinion, SE Washington DC very dangerous, I will not walk there but I have no problem walking from Downtown Vegas such as a walk to the old closed Western Casino.
Quote: terapinedI've walked around every big city downtown in the country. Followed The Grateful around the country seeing over 100 shows.
Time well spent.
Not all who wander are lost.
Tee shirt on German tourist the other day: I may be old but at least I got to see all those bands.Quote: terapinedFollowed The Grateful Dead around the country seeing over 100 shows.
By the way, the streets are rather safe... ain't none been stolen or anything.
Wish me luck.... both INSIDE and OUTSIDE the casino
Probably the best way to go about it would be to get the bullets in, perhaps one at a time, and hide them, and bring in the pistol later.

8000 items seized going into the courthouse.....almost 7000 of them knifes. If there are that many going IDIOTS in Vegas trying to take them into a place where they should know they are going to be screen for them one might think hmmmm how many were smart enough to leave theirs at home or in the car?
but to each their own i guess

That's true, but I bet if you compared numbers to other cities (e.g., Oakland, Detroit, Newark, etc.), I'm sure the findings would be similar.

That's pretty light, so I'm going to give you an in-thread Warning that this is not acceptable. You may, however, may refer to conclusions as idiotic, if that is your opinion...though that may still not be the best way to express it.
I lived for a decade in center city Philadelphia, and walked all over that city. Playing a great deal in Atlantic City, early in my career, I walked those streets, even late at night. I walked from Trump Taj Mahal to Borgata in the middle of the night. BUT there are places in Vegas that, not only will I not go after dark, but I don't even like being there mid day. Heavy gang infested areas, like Bonanza/Rancho, to name one.
But there are some real nice areas of Vegas as well, obviously summerlin, parts of Henderson, Southern Highhlands come to mind. Like anywhere the trick is to identify the bad areas. Some of these area can turn real bad, just a couple blocks from better, decent areas.
If you walk around North Town I don't like your chances, most other places seem rather safe. I'm more scared of casino security guards, I have taken a pounding from them a few times. Bob N. can confirm.
Quote: kewljLike most major cities, Vegas has some bad areas....some REAL bad areas. Some a very short distance from the strip, like behind Wynn, just east of the strip. Others further away from the tourist area, like a number of areas in North Las Vegas. A good portion of Boulder Highway area is a little rough.

Haha the place I was looking at is right around Bonanza and Maryland. I guess I know why it is so affordable now.
Talk with Dj and funkydoctor they both recently went through this. I believe they found a decent place close to the Hard Rock and are quite happy. It was love at first sight....the place they found I mean. STAY AWAY FROM BONANZA, that's probably the worst road in VegasQuote: PerditionQuote: kewljLike most major cities, Vegas has some bad areas....some REAL bad areas. Quote:One trend that's been documented by GAP officers is a new type of initiation rite for some gangs: they require new members to prove their loyalty by kicking in the door of a house as part of a home invasion robbery.

Before making a decision, ask people here (or anyone that lives in Vegas). Most residents know exactly where they wouldn't live.
Will you be working or going to school? gambling ?
So yeah pretty much the day would be spent either hanging out or playing a machine. I'm pretty ok with whatever as long as there isn't a firefight outside my door or someone kicking it in.
On a fixed income so seems to be in my price range. The lady said there are homeless in the general area but it is mostly quiet. Maybe she was understating but to give a reference the only comparable place I found was on the corner of Balzar and MLK and even I know that area is rough.
Hopefully will be out there early next year but we'll see.

I lived in a dorm at Drexel University next to Center City Philly a couple years. I too walked all over that city and never had a problem. I was there during earlier MOVE incident. Not the infamous bombing by police and subsequent block fire but a few years prior. The Powellton village gun firefight between the cops and MOVE when a Philadelphia police officer was killed. That took place just 2 blocks from the Drexel University dorms.

Hey, Philly is just across the Delaware River from what is considered the most dangerous city in America: Camden, N.J.

That's where we bought our liquor. I lived in a dorm at Drexel U. Pennsylvania law back then, 21 to buy liquor. NJ 18. As young 19 yr old college students, we would hop on the subway from Philly to Camden, stock up on liquor, hop on the subway back to the dorm in Philly.

Isn't this an old rating? I would think Chicago or Detroit would have this honor by now.

Not sure I agree with some of these ratings. DC at #46 ?
