If a 2X appears on line one of a ten-line dollar machine with no other multipliers that is ~96% for one coin and ~97.5% for 5-coins:
playing 1 coin: 2*0.96/1 - 1 = 92% edge x $1 wager = $0.92 profit
playing 10-lines at 50 coins: 11*0.975/10 - 1 = 7.25% edge x $50 wager = $3.625 profit

Well yeah...betting 5 credits on an Ultimate X machine without any multipliers just makes that person an asshole instead...lol
I made my g/f vulture off some Ultimate X multipliers this last Vegas trip even! :D Naturally we lost...lol
I was checking machines for mults recently and came across a screen with some winning hands, 10 coins in, yet no mults on all 3 denominations for that game. First and only time I've seen this. How is this possible?

I don't know if IGT is doing this now, but on some of our games we will clear the game board when a player cashes out or if the credits go to zero. If the credits go to zero we will give the player a notice that the board will be cleared in X seconds if they don't insert money or a ticket. This has resolved many casino complaints of "fleas" coming in, looking for advantage situations, and just playing until they hit the bonus and then cashing out.

Interesting. I wonder if that violates gaming regs in some (all?) jurisdictions, as the machine is not offering the odds/bonuses advertised in the pay tables.

From my experiences, it does not. The stated payback percentage is usually based on optimum play. In our scenarios optimum play would be to quit after hitting the bonus. That would achieve the best payback for the player.
Quote: IbeatyouracesI see this every so often myself and wondered the same thing.
I saw it again yesterday and I believe it was the same paying hand (trip 7s) that didn't have a bonus mult the next round. I wonder if that's a software bug, previously unreported.
