So I left my room to play some blackjack and left the "housekeeping" light on.

I came back to the room and it had been wonderfully cleaned

I also noticed I must have failed to re-lock the safe when I left the room earlier...

To my surprise (since I am normally cynical), all the contents I had left therein, including CASH, were all there!!!

Thank you Revel housekeeping for your honesty

They probably opened up the safe and just forgot to take the money. You got lucky. hahaha
On checkout day, they'll be knocking at 830 AM.

I don't find this hard to believe or even applaudable.
If a member of the maid staff decides to steal,
their days are numbered in an upscale hotel. Guests
complain, and the hotel knows who cleaned what room.
So a couple complaints of theft and you're gone. They
have to decide if its worth their job and it usually isn't.

A similar thing happened to me at the Four Queens once. I rushed out and figured out later that I'd left my cash on the nightstand. I quickly returned to find that the room had been cleaned, and my cash was still on the nightstand.

I only leave small change behind as I hate carrying it in my pocket and low and behold everytime I get back to my room the small change is still there :)

Should we really praise someone for being honest? What's next, thanking people on the street for not trying to mug us? We don't know if these maids are honest or if they're just smart enough not to steal from a room that they clean. I would think that their employer would test them periodically.

Yeah, when the hotel closes they're going to set up cots in the poker room.

I agree. It would be one thing if someone found a bunch of money on the street and returned it (since that is much harder to trace), but in a work setting, most employees—especially at a high end hotel—would be wary about pocketing a customer's money.
