So I will be in vegas next week for a conference, and most of the time I will be booked up with meetings, however one evening I plan to go with a couple co-workers to downtown for some cheap, fun gambling. I will only have a couple hours, so most probably I can stay and play at only one place down there...so what place has the best cheap thrills that will leave me entertained? I probably will be playing some craps, BJ and maybe even some old school penny machines...thanks!

Nealy any downtown casino will meet your criteria. In the middle of Fremont Street are Golden Nugget, Binions, Fremont, and Four Queens.

The D is a fun place and is just east of Four Queens (a short walk). A bit further east is El Cortez, a great choice for low stakes gambling.

It depends. For cheap, Fremont has a $3 craps table open 24/7, but it only allows 2X odds.

Four Queens and Binnion's have $5 and $10 tabels and allows 10X

And of course Main Street Station has $5 and $10 craps with 20X odds

I've no idea about slots, but if you play VP, the best low-roller option is the nickel Loose Deuces machine at the D's second floor by the sports book. Next best $0.05 9/6 JoB at the 4 Queens, also by the sports book (coincidence?). If you're feeling more adventurous, there are full pay quarter Double Bonus VP amchines at the 4 Queens right under Magnolia's. Or you can try the Sigma Derby at the D for quarters.

On the website for The D, it mentions that they have "Dancing Dealers"...is that just girls with bras on dealing the cards? Also, would that be crappy 6-5 BJ on those games?

Yes to the dancing dealers. The chicks dance on small stages inside the pit when they are not dealing. The music is loud.

All blackjack is 3:2; at least the shoe games anyway. Should be able to find $5 min.

Very, very, very loud. I can't stand to play there myself. And forget about trying to say anything during craps...

Main Street Station and The California, its sister property, are my two usual haunts when playing downtown.
