Closest one is Kickapoo in Eagle Pass. It's a couple hours south of San Antonio, near the border & rio grande.
They pretty much just have slots and poker.
There's a bus that goes from San Antonio (where I live), not sure if there's one from Austin.

Shreveport is as close as Lake Charles, and you don't have to drive through downtown traffic on a Friday afternoon to get there. (I-30 is well south of Dallas, while the best way to Lake Charles is, ugh, Loop 8/Loop 610 to I-10.) Eldorado and Horseshoe both have poker rooms.
4-6 hours is no worse than LA to Las Vegas, and the scenery is prettier.
