1) If I am uncomfortable, I lose more often than average in my selective memory.
2) When I am uncomfortable, it's because I am at higher limits, and with poor -EV games, the last thing I want to do is desensitize myself to gambling at that level.

Companions of those who selected the first choice. Persons who are not fully focused. Those who find the music blaring but its a long walk to a quieter casino. Those who ate the free buffet and those who were wiser?Quote: chaunceyb3Sick degenerates.

Damn. my g/f might fall under that. But the place I like to gamble more in Tunica at least, she has done way better than I have! lol
get it. Why would you want to remain in a place
where you were uncomfortable, let alone gamble
there.
The OP needs to explain why this thread was started.
I see now I could have used the word "when" instead of "where" to be more accurate if that makes any sense.
Quote: Beethoven9thI haven't seen the study myself, but (assuming it's correct) I tend to think that people are doing so subconsciously rather than going out and saying, "Let me find a nice, uncomfortable casino!" IMHO, it's sort of like those times when we are on a winning streak we bet small, yet when we're on a losing streak we don't think twice about betting big trying to chase our losses. We don't set out to do this--many of us would concede that such behavior is stupid--yet it happens without us even thinking twice about it.
In any case, that study sounds intriguing. I'd love to see it.
With all the clutter now on the internet, I doubt I will ever be able to find it. It might have been a blurb page in Newsweek or NY Times somewhere, but I doubt I will be able to find it. I really don't know where I read it. It's possibly from more recent, maybe in Casino Player.
Nervousness about anything or simply a distraction can affect style of play.
No matter how pleasing a low cut neckline may be, it is a distraction and that is why a female poker player is rarely seen dressed as a nun.
If things go badly for your first few bets, the distraction can be maddening.
But very comfortable.
