Whether they play slots or lotteries, most people who gamble are looking for the Big Score.
The notion that "Wow, I could be rich" is very compelling, and addictive.
Whereas a realistic table games player says "Wow, I might make a fair profit today, if I am lucky."
But how many table games players are realistic?

Congratulations.....as you know it's not yours until you close out account. I'm 3x's short market.....taking a lot of pain....fighting the tape while waiting for Black Swan event.Quote: s2dbakerIf effortless wealth is the goal then you would have a much better chance with a few darts and a page of the Wall Street Journal's stock listings taped to the wall. My IRA has realized 13.72% gains and unrealized is another 13.43% since January 1, 2013. All of that in 27 trading days. I know that I can't possibly sustain that pace but lordy, that's a whole lot of money! I have to thank Scientific Gaming for taking over WMS at a ridiculous premium for a lot of that.

I believe that you'll finally be right in April.....until then there will probably be more pain....
the market requires that one takes a lot of pain before being rewarded....or you can always close position and sleep wellQuote: steeldcoI believe that you'll finally be right in April.....until then there will probably be more pain....

I have very rarely gone to near all cash in the past and have always slept well. The times that I have gone short on anything have not been very frequent. However, come this April-May I'm going to consider going to all cash.
I'll just keep rolling up and out until it works or I run out of money.Quote: steeldcoI have very rarely gone to near all cash in the past and have always slept well. At first I was thrilled with a $100 win, but after a while it took $1,000 to get me excited, now it takes about $5,000. But even if I win that much, I don't spend it, it just goes back to the casino eventually.
Endeavors with such a dynamic rarely end well.

It seems to me that casino gambling is a wealthless effortQuote: MrVThe more we play, the more we want to play.

I saw two young women playing sic-bo last Saturday and betting $2 on the small box. When they won, they started shouting and hugging and getting really excited.
I could not imagine being so happy from winning a $200 bet, much less a $2 one.
It must be nice.
Wow, what a feeling!
That set the hook.
