I buy all my pet food at Walmart
online now, the FedEx drivers
hate me. Each box weighs 40
pounds. It's so much easier
hauling it from the back deck
than putting it in the basket
at the store, scanning it, putting
it in the trunk, carrying it into
the house.

Canned cat food is actually 5
cents cheaper online, and free
delivery. Amazon Prime has
free delivery with no minimum.
So I can order a food item that
costs $2 and get it delivered
the next day. I take huge
advantage of this and have
stuff coming here 6 days out
of 7.

We order from Chewy.com, same thing. They deliver 40 pound litter boxes cheaper than I can drive to Walmart or Target for. Iím sure the drivers hate it but it makes sense for us.

We order from Chewy.com,

I checked out Chewy, too expensive
on most things for me. For instance,
Chewy is $3 more than Walmart for
a 32 can case of Friskies.

Walmart Grocery pickup is fantastic. I will never shop for food inside of the store again.

You reserve a time slot and order all your food on the website/app. When you get to the store you park in a designated spot and check in on the app or call a number, and they bring everything right out to. Iíve never waited more than 5 minutes.

The best part is, if they are out of stock of something you purchased, theyíll substitute a larger size or more expensive brand, but charge you the same price. This seems to happen with half of the stuff I order. The last time I got a $20 pack of steaks for $10.

Not sure how it makes long term profits. It eliminates the impulse purchases.

Granted Iím old but as a business person, I fail to see the where this makes sense. Unless the gain from competition covers the expected losses.

And the elimination of labor covers the cost. But elimination of jobs is an entire different discussion not allowed here.

Chewy is top notch customer service though. One of my dogs was on a special diet of prescription food at the end. I had just ordered a dozen cans for $72 which arrived the day she died. Called Chewy a week or so later to see about a return. They just credited back my credit card and told me to give it to my vets office. Unbelievable. They gained a customer for life that day. I don't care if its a few nickels more.

Itís so convenient that even if the average order isnít more, I am sure they see more frequent orders.

In my case, I rarely shopped for groceries at Walmart because itís 10 minutes farther than the nearest grocery store. I now get pretty much everything there because it saves a ton of time not having to actually pick the groceries myself and wait in line to checkout.

We use chewy as well. The same High protein cat food feed all of our critters except for the turtles. The delivery guy must hate us as well because the cat litter is 25 lb on its own, I'm pretty sure the cat food is a 25 lb bag. I think we do a three or four month supply at once. I use a dolly/ hand truck to cart it all to the garage, I wonder if they use one to get it to my door?
