I know several of you are heading over there to see Switch / Geoff, on the first day of his Free Bet BlackJack field trial. Good luck Geoff!

While you're there, could you do me a favor?

Right before I left town on my visit last month, I stumbled upon something at the Golden Nugget that intrigued me: A Roulette side bet called Rapid Replay.

It's only on one table, which is why I hadn't noticed it sooner. Unfortunately, I really didn't have time to ask about it, but I did take a picture of the rule card. Sorry that it's blurry:

The part that most intrigues me is that last line.

I did find some info on the internet about it - a skimpy 1 page document, although it doesn't mention malfunctions at all:
http://gaming.nv.gov/approved_games_rules/Rapid_Replay.pdf

The rule card and PDF both mentioned using the scoreboard to keep track of prior spins. I thought that was not allowed!

So if you have the time, please wander over to it and check it out. Ask how they track the prior numbers. When they say they use the scoreboard, ask what happens if there is a sensor malfunction, or if the display isn't working at all.

I've always felt that my Poker For Roulette side bet was too complex to implement without an electronic bet tracking system.

I've come up with a good 3 spin version of Poker For Roulette. I'm updating my website later today.

Here's the key: If I’m allowed to use the scoreboard, it means I can create a version that is totally manual, and isn't too much of a PITA for dealers. In other words, with nothing more than a new table felt and some marker buttons, I could go to a field trial with my 3 spin version of Poker For Roulette.

Thanks!

According to my calculations the house edge on this bet is 5.47%. Which is not bad for a side bet but still higher than the 5.26% on a normal roulette bet. If you want a shot at something big just let your winnings ride. Or even better, play something different than roulette...
My favorite bet: Double Down!

Maybe I need to clarify.

I have no interest in the Rapid Replay bet itself.

My interest is in the mechanics of dealing that bet and using the history display to determine results, and how that can relate to my Poker For Roulette side bet.

Bump.

Yeah, I know that bumps are frowned upon.

But I figure with the timing of this event, and the forum hosting problems, that a bump would be OK.

Is it just me, or does that bet sound a lot like your original "Hit it again roulette"?

It's NOT just you. I had the same thought when I saw it.

I was going to mention the similarity with Hit It Again in my post above, but that post was already too long. All I want to do today is encourage people to remember to wander over to that table and ask questions....

Is there any info for Freebet? It looks like it is same as blackjack except dealer pays for your splits and 9-11 doubles. Dealer pushes 22. How does this change the strategy? I am guessing it is now a good idea to double 9 vs 7 and maybe 8. What about 10 vs ace? I am sure some marginal splits now have value too. Is it H17? How many decks?

I stumbled upon this side bet info:

1 2
Dealer Same Suite 22 50 to 1 50 to 1
Dealer Same Color 22 20 to 1 20 to 1
Dealer Other 228 to 1 7 to 1
Dealer Bust Not 22 Lose Lose

House Edge # of Decks Hit/Stand
1 9.04% 14.98% 10.03% 15.88%
2 7.10% 12.99% 8.09% 13.89%
4 6.16% 12.03 7.15% 12.93%
6 5.85% 11.70% 6.84% 12.61%
8 5.70% 11.55% 6.69% 12.46%

To reiterate, what DJ wants help with is:

BTW I would suggest writing in a reminder when you bump the thread.

Here's the key: If I’m allowed to use the scoreboard,

You won't be. They malfunction all the time and the
pit will tell you they're there as a convenience to the
customer and sometimes they don't accurately exhibit
the last number correctly.

In some Indian casino the numbers displyed allow the Tribe members to know which numbers will come up in the next 3 spins.

You won't be. They malfunction all the time ...

That's what I had originally assumed.

But the Rapid Replay side bet I saw at Golden Nugget clearly indicated, on the rule card and on the NGC document, that the scoreboard is used to track the prior spins.

That's why I want to have someone (or several someones) to ask them about that detail.
