I'm at the Wynn. Thinking about getting a manicure ($45) and a pedicure ($80). What is the appropriate tip? Thanks!

I don't purchase those services myself, but my wife does. Her last visit to a local salon had a bill of $60, to which she added a $10 tip. Percentage-wise, that seems to match what WongBo and only1choice are suggesting.

Tip what you would tip at a restaurant about 15-20%

Tip the stylist 15%. Don't tip the manager of the salon.

My wife is a cosmotologist who does everything except bikini waxes, as it were.

She has told me that she usually gets about twenty percent, and if the amount is close, the clients usually just round up to $20.

She may get more than others, though. Not to brag on my wife, but she's damn good and works at one of the classier places in the area. She's especially good at manicures, pedicures, nail-painting/design and shellac which are high dollar compared to a haircut or style.

Of course not. Why would you want to tip differently at the Wynn? I suppose that if they were comping the service, you wouldn't use a percentage, but if you are buying something with your own money, why would your tipping policy be any different there than elsewhere?

After the mani/pedis, tell the person that you are willing to tip them $20 OR place the $20 on a number of their choice at the roulette wheel for a chance of them winning more.

On an unrelated side note, I was watching a (rerun) skit from Saturday Night Live in which they were spoofing the Republican candidates. I'm not a follower of politics, so I don't have names. Anyway, they are in a bar, and after the female bartender gives them their drinks, one candidate hands the bartender an envelop. He tells her, "Your tip is in there. Take that home to your husband. He'll know what to do with it."
