Well it's time for my wife and I to take our annual March Break Las Vegas trip. This year it is March 9-13.

We often stay at the Wynn, but their offer currently runs $1126 for the 4 nights. I'll likely have to wait them out to get anything better and it might not improve.

I've booked Park MGM as a backup for $871 for now.

I got a Player's card at Venetian last year and they're mailing me offers. The offers cover both hotels -- Venetian and Palazzo -- but the Palazzo is more expensive. Venetian runs $826. Palazzo runs $1246.

My question for the folks here is is there a big difference in rooms between Venetian and Palazzo? Is there a reason to choose one over the other?

What would folks recommend? Wait for Wynn? Switch to Venetian? See if Palazzo comes down?

All the prices above include the resort fee, but not taxes.

The grand suites and a lot of other rooms are all being remodeled on the Venetian side right now so if you're going to stay in other than a standard room, you'll probably have to stay at Palazzo, and in general there are less rooms available at the Venetian right now versus Palazzo.

I analyze standard rooms between Venetian, Wynn and Encore here:

https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/questions-and-answers/las-vegas/36275-quietest-and-best-vegas-rooms/#post818548

I have never stayed in a standard room on the Palazzo side only grand suites so I can't comment on what they are like, but at 650 to 720 sq. feet they seem comparable to those on Venetian side (650 sq. ft.).

If you end up staying at Palazzo, if you're ever headed down Spring Mountain east you may cut through T.I. and go straight into Palazzo for access to both self parking P1 level and the valet, to avoid any congestion at that corner of Spring Mountain/Sands and the Strip.

As far as quiet, if you stay in Palazzo and your room is too far north, you'll hear noise from Tao Beach Club, so you might want to pick a back side (facing Wynn golf course) Palazzo room. This is the sort of noise you might hear from an Encore room above Encore Beach club. Venetian rooms are mostly quiet other than some do hear that clock tower ringing all day.

I stay at the Venetian and Palazzo all the time. They're pretty comparable. I can't justify an additional $400 to stay at the Palazzo. The rooms are almost identical.
Here are some pros/cons for both properties:

Venetian:
Pros:
-Closer to the center strip. You're right next to Harrah's
-Has a food court (if that's what you care about)

Cons:
-Much more smokier than Palazzo
-Far from the parking garage to the front desk

Palazzo:
Pros:
-A bit "newer"
-A quick zip from the parking garage to the room elevators
-Less crowded
-Two high limit rooms (The original Salon, and the new high limit room)
-Close to the new poker room (2nd floor)

Cons:
-You're closer to the TI and the Wynn, but a good 10 minute walk to the Venetian side of the strip
-No food court to grab a quick bite

This is a good point.

The Venetian elevators in the parking garage will bring you pretty close to the Canal Shoppes 2nd floor room elevators.

In Palazzo parking garage there are two sets of elevators, one will take you close to the front desk, the other close to the room elevators. You may choose to park close to either one.

But yes - the distance from the front desk/VIP to the room elevators. Not far from hotel lobby to room elevators in Palazzo, a short horse ride from Venetian main lobby to the main Venetian tower room elevators - although, there is somewhat of a short cut if you take the Venezia tower elevator to the 10th floor, then cut across to the Venetian tower elevators.
