The huge, multi-tiered pool amphitheater looks like a blast
I hope this gets built as the renderings show
The first 2 1/2 min of the video is Vegas history. skip to 2:35 if you want to cut to the chase

I disagree. Those first couple minutes help define where the name came from. When I first heard the name, it was something of a head scratcher. After seeing that first 2 1/2 minutes, it all makes sense.
And now, I think Circa is a GREAT name.

I’ve been to the Taj Mahal but I’ve never been to the garage Mahal.
Ok, I got it. It's that block they knocked down where Las Vegas Club and all was. Derek Stevens.

LAS VEGAS - The entertainment district of downtown Las Vegas will see its first casino-resort built from the ground up in more than three decades when the 777-room Circa opens in December 2020. Derek Stevens, one of the owners of the D Hotel, located in down Las Vegas, revealed the name of his new hotel Thursday.
The announcement about the Circa Resort and Casino came after Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman's State of the City address.
Video below shows the announcement being made at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center.

Details of the planned casino-resort that will rise along the casino-flanked Fremont Street were announced Thursday. The owners are promising amenities that include a stadium-style sports book, multi-tiered pool amphitheater and a two-level casino.
Co-owner Derek Stevens told the Associated Press the property will offer guests fun and exciting things to do while honoring the history of Las Vegas.
The property's hotel tower will be the tallest building north of the Las Vegas Strip.
The famous neon sign of the high-kicking Vegas Vickie cowgirl will come out of storage and be placed in the lobby.

Yeah, I agree, but I would think they can open at least part of a casino floor by then, and add on the hotel, grounds, and more casino floor from there. I would guess their full construction would take 5 years or so.
I would think they want the revenue stream to start paying, with the Fremont St. access right in the middle. Even 2020 seems a long way away when there's no revenue. Why not prefab something for this spring?
I appreciate that there will be real competition for the high end (relatively) customers downtown. However, I fear this is the deathblow Binion's has been fearing. The Horseshoe was classic Vegas to me. It is ironic that the new property intends to celebrate old Las Vegas while sweeping many of those same icons into the dustbin of history.
The wheel in the sky keeps on turning...

I think I read in the last week or so that the casino will be opening in September but the hotel, not until December.

October 28th for the casino and December 28th for the hotel.
Interesting, I'm just reading their website and they describe the pit as having "18 electronic table games and 4 feature games". Whatever that means.....
