The Rio has become kind of an odd place. It's the only store with a monkey on the carpet, for one. But there are also a lot of weird groups and meetings, strange people, a little bit of crime, dysfunctional dealers, strange policies and layouts. It feels like a dystopic-future movie where the outcasts of the New Society have taken over the once opulent and refined Rio, and Penn & Teller are secretly running it all. But there are a few things I can do there so I am there regularly.
The second most disturbing part of the story is that a gun was fired twice in a guest room, and nobody knew anything until the next day.
The third most disturbing part of the story is that there was a cheer competition staying at the Rio to begin with. I've seen cheer at casinos before and it has an unhealthy look and feel to it. Not a place for juvenile girls especially in groups where they encourage and enable each other's bad behavior, and with the amount of aggressive prostitution (which appears to be in a form that is a prelude to other crimes) on a Saturday night at the Rio it is one of the last places I would bring a minor.
