I'm probably only going to visit one off-strip place this trip, and I wanted your opinion as to what the nicest off-strip property is overall. Gambling, food, decor?
Heard good things about M Resort and Red Rock, so I was curious.

My take: Red Rock is nice - for a Stations property. The M is nice period. In strip terms, Red Rock is somewhere around the MGM/Planet Hollywood level, the M is more like Mirage/Mandalay Bay. To me, that's maybe a half-step difference on a 10 step Imperial Palace to Wynn scale.

You should have made this a poll.
It's close and you'll be thrilled with either but I give the edge to M. The buffet is really good!

Both are great casinos. If you are at the Red Rock you can also do the Red Rock Canyon drive through tour as it is close and a great view. The buffet at the M is awesome and they have a micro brew and coffee bar included in the price. The M is also close to Green Valley which is also a very nice casino. I thought the VP to be a little better at Green Valley and Red Rock then at the M.

Soon there will not be an issue at all... Red Rock will easily beat M. Penn National is bound to screw up the casino, like they have nearly all their other properties.

The VP at Station Casinos blows away The M. That would sway me to Red Rock over The M, unless the buffet means more. Red Rock's buffet is nothing special.

My personal preference is Red Rock, it's one of my favorite in the LV area. The friendly staff is outstanding!

What about GVR? I admit I'm partial to it because it was my "local" casino when I lived in Henderson, but still, it's got quite a lot going for it however you slice it. Plus The District is right there...

Do they still have the option you can check for a packet containing various "items" such as flavored oils, soft-stick duct tape restraints and other adult items to be waiting in your room for you?Quote: dlevinelawThanks guys! Seems pretty split but wife likes vp, so rr may win out.
Actually I'd choose M over RR since it is newer and wins the CW contest. They also are more prone to give away bottles of wine.
I've heard the Spa is marginally better at M but surely those things are highly subjective. Always wondered about RR and those "faux restraints" and free condoms though.

I hands down prefer the M over RR. The minuses at the M to me are as follows, The buffet, contrary to what others have said, the buffet sucks to me. 3 hour wait to get average food at best. The Sports book. rude ticket writers, like I am beneath them rude. Also the room doors are very heavy so you hear when anyone around you comes in and out of the room.
With all of that said, I still prefer the M over the RR. One reason is a pit boss, maybe pit manager named Lou. I was treated like a VIP in the pit with a nice comp to the steakhouse, which BTW is excellent. The italian resturaunt is very good also, I recommend the chicken parm. Hash a gogo , not so hot. Beds are very nice, room is very nice, tables are nice and friendly.
Even with my critiques, I really like the M resort and spa.

You know RR has some 100%+ percent VP machines. We play the Dueces Wild.
I hit 4 dueces 3 times one afternoon at the sister Green Valley Rance property
last month.

For fine dining, I would say the M. For casual, the Red Rock. For stuff to do besides gambling, definitely the Red Rock. I live very close to the Red Rock, and go there a lot, out of convenience, mainly for movies and food. However, I've had some negative experiences there. If I lived equally far from both, and the games were exactly the same, I think I would probably play at the M. Also, the Red Rock has the highest resort fees in Vegas.

I'm primarily angry over how I was treated regarding some $1,000 chips I was trying to cash. They questioned, in a rude way, if I was the legitimate owner, and then refused to cash them. I easily passed them off in the sports book after the cage refused me.
