Fitz's Name Change

According to the news, and the Fitzgerald's website, The Fitz will renovate and become The D Las Vegas. Not sure exactly what changes are in store just yet, but they already advertise 10X odds on all craps games and all blackjack tables pay 3:2. The Fitz is now owned by the majority owner of the Golden Gate...so if the review of the Golden Gate vs. the review of The Fitz gives any indication, this can only be an improvement. I'll miss that giant neon rainbow/pot of gold, but that's about all I'll miss from this place.

The new Fitz or "D" is going to be a cheesy casino like the Golden Gate.

To me that casino, especially now that one of our valued WoV members was able to escape from it, will always be "The Ditz."
The main casino is aabout as clsoe to hell on Earth as it gets for me. The "music" is way too loud. But the room upstairs with the vintage slots, and now the Sigma Derby, is worth the visit. I love the loose deuces VP machine with the Frankenstein grafts for bill acceptors and card readers. It also takes nickels! And it's supposed to be the best paytable in Vegas.

The upstairs is a nice trip back in time.

It's odd that the Fitz in LV is so bad, yet the Fitz in Tunica is a fairly nice place. I stay there all the time. Their buffet is very good, they have very tasteful decor in both the hotel rooms and the casino, they have a nice covered parking deck and the open parking area goes on for acres, they seem to be pretty good with their comps, they have a big pit area with a good variety of games, their slot selection is great and they always have the newest games, and tho I don't use it, the pool seems to be nice.

They both used to be Fitzgerald's tho. Same name, same logo. Fitzgerald's in Tunica changed its name to The Fitz a few years ago but Fitzgerald's in LV only changed its name recently. When did they become un-linked?

They became unlinked awhile ago. Fitz in Tunica is owned by Majestic Star, Fitz Las Vegas was owned by Majestic Star then sold to Barden Gaming which was sold to Derek Stevens' Desert Rock Gaming after Barden died. Now it is the D, as in Downtown, Detroit, and Derek.

I've never understood why but some people tend to paint with a broad brush. The state of New Jersey is a good example. It has long been the butt of unrelenting jokes by people who have only seen it from the northern part of the turnpike or who have not seen it at all.
