Big D

So one day while high I thought about what my casino theme would be. It wasn't Detroit.
I can see the white board at that meeting.

It seems “D” stands for “Detroit” and “Downtown.”

Or dick. The dick of DownTown. Oh boy..

Oh great! Another players card from my collection goes dark. It was my favorite too because it had a rainbow.

I wonder how long before people start calling it the Ditz?

"M", "TI", and "W" were already taken. "F" would be a poor choice. If not "D", what other letter would be better?

As for the Detroit theme, maybe they expect it to go up in flames on Halloween.

They could have kept the rainbow if they had named it The Q.

I don't think I care much at all what name they use, and the theme isn't a big deal to me. What's really important to me is: When, if ever, will they have "D Las Vegas" chips available for a collector? If they are really changing the name right now, will they have new chips in time for WoVCon][ ?

Can't do that. Not with The Four Qs next door....

No new chips yet, next tuesday is the "grand opening" they are just putting new layouts right now. If anyone is interested they have a promotion if you buy in at the table for $100 you get a shirt that says I went to sleep at Fitzgeralds and woke up at the D.

Either I haven't been paying attention or I just forgot, but I can't remember whether it is public knowledge just which establishment you deal for. Months ago in your blog, you said you weren't sure whether you could announce it. If you can't say it outright, does your detailed knowledge on this thread give a reliable hint?

Count me in the minority, but I am in favor it. Any change for downtown is good, and the Fitzgerald's theme was getting pretty tired. They are getting rid of Krispy Kreme, which is a shame. I hope the 101.2% video poker remains.

"The D will keep its two-story gaming floor, a rarity in the industry, but give the second story a twist. Video screens will be installed along the casino's interior escalator, which will take customers back in time to a vintage Vegas-themed second floor, complete with retro games such as the 10-seat, mechanical horse-racing game Sigma Derby." I hear they are installing an escalator outside that will take people directly to the retro area. There are also rumors of a table games pit up there. Maybe they will install Faro, Pan (the rummy like game), chuck a luck, etc...

Where Krispy Kreme is now is where the elevator
is going. Should be done by the fall. The longest
bar in NV is what they're claiming, is already open.

I was expecting it to be rethemed as a tribute to the Detroit Red Wings, the finest pro sports franchise there is. Twenty one straight play offs.

Semi joking aside, I had heard Detroit was quite the town back in the fifties? Not so much?

I remember when it was lucky the girls had all their teeth at the Fitz.

And of course the shot of the casino in Dodgeball at 1:48 in the clip won't make any sense.

A few questions:
1. Will they still have Spanish 21 with the double-double down rule?
2. Will they still have the loose deuces wild video poker machine that's the highest % payout in Las Vegas?
3. Will my comp points still be valid?
4. Will they have the same slot club as the Golden Gate?
5. Fitzgeralds was very generous with their comps, then about three years ago got pretty stingy. How's the comp policy going to be?

A few questions:

Will I need to exchange my Club Fitz card for a new one? Can I keep the old one as a souvenir?

I'm serious. Already I need to collect cards from the Palms, the Cosmopolitan and I think I have to exchange the old MGM card for the new MLife card. I'm unsure about the Strat card, too. And I want to do all that in one day.

A few questions:
1. Will they still have Spanish 21 with the double-double down rule?- They took out the game completely about a month ago. There is only regular black jack, no power or switch anymore. Also about 1/2 the games are the beloved CSM. Some 6 Deck shoe games were at a $25 minimum last night.
2. Will they still have the loose deuces wild video poker machine that's the highest % payout in Las Vegas?- It is still there.
3. Will my comp points still be valid?- They should be.
4. Will they have the same slot club as the Golden Gate? They are still separate
5. Fitzgeralds was very generous with their comps, then about three years ago got pretty stingy. How's the comp policy going to be?

- They are still stingy with the comps. Also they have the music playing so loud in there one needs ear plugs to keep from getting a head ache.

Thanks for the answers. I was going to ask about the music being at ear-splitting levels, but then I thought that would be like asking if the sky is still blue.
