I wonder if you would ever get to play it or it is just a hook to get you down there and then while you are there, end up playing something else.
I know a few people are regular visitors there, anyone know the story on it?
The big story is the machine is ancient and has a physical payglass. This is probably why they have kept it with that paytable so far.
I added an "LD" label to show the machine's location, which is awkward. It's alone at the end of a row, perpendicular to the other machines. Immediately adjacent is the keno lounge/sportsbook area, and also the service area for cocktail waitstaff at the end of the bar.
I'm not sure I would notice, but I don't think the machine has any special level of popularity, so the seat should be available most of the time.
As for other options, I walked through yesterday. I didn't find any full-pay Joker Wild. The bank of 10 IGT multi-game machines upstairs has a 40-20-5-4 (95.5%) schedule for nickels.
The quarter 10/7 DB machines are ancient, with very poor graphics.
There's one machine with 10-cent NSUD. It's the green chair to the extreme right in the photo. All the NSUD machines pay coins, either nickels or quarters.
The upstairs bar is always worth a look, with the usual best option being the quarter 8/5 Bonus 3-way progressives.
The slot club rebate is only 0.1% for video poker. The D is offering a rare multiplier day (5x) on Thursday, January 2nd.
Quote: PerditionIt says there is one of these in the casino. Is it constantly camped by people grinding out nickels all day?
I estimate the machine is available about 75% of the time.

I stayed at The D from Wednesday 12/18 to Monday morning 12/23, although, I didn't gamble at The D at all Monday morning and only made one PL bet at Fremont that day.
In any event, the machine was occupied on Wednesday night, the first time I looked for it. It was occupied most of the day on Thursday, Wizard had asked if I was ever on it and I said, "It is always occupied," Thursday was this same guy for most of the day.
The machine was then unoccupied when Wizard, Axelwolf, Beth and myself left for dinner Thursday evening. I don't recall the status of the game Thursday night, but I first played it Friday morning and would suggest that Wizard is exactly right from that point forward, about 75% available, anytime I looked for it.
I typically only played it when I was downstairs by myself and Beth was getting ready or in bed, exactly for the stated reason that it sits by itself perpendicular to other machines with nothing really next to it. Beth even stood there for a second saying she was going to watch, but if someone is standing there, they'll have to move out of the way of people every now and then. I think that lasted about two minutes before she said, "Okay, give me a five."
I joined her a minute later and got on Joker Poker, LDW is an awesome machine if you're alone, but the location is no good if you have company. For 101.6%, I'm not complaining, though!
EDIT: I don't think that bank of machines to the right of LDW was there when I was there, but I could be wrong. I wasn't paying much attention to the slots, at all, except advantage plays and playing QH for 5 Lines at $0.01 for a $0.05 bet for free drinks!
Quote: DJTeddyBearI'm shocked that you were able to take a photo of the Sigma Derby machine when nobody was playing it! Were you there at a really weird / off hour?

I found the photo online, so the layout may have changed, but the last time I played the NSUD, I remember stepping to the round slot carousel while tidying up my "work" area. In the perspective of the photo, it's possible they may have pulled the carousel forward and right, toward the escalators. Hidden behind the carousel in the photo, I remember a (2x2?) bank of old slant top keno machines, the kind with the pen on a string.

The slant Keno is now the banks to which LDW is perpendicular. I only played slant Keno when I had a few loose nickels or quarters. I never really hit for anything, seven and change once, forget how many balls out of how many...just getting rid of a few quarters or win five or more dollars. I think I finished slightly ahead only considering slant Keno with just that hit! That's how little I played them, though they are pretty cool.
Quote: rudeboyoiThe most +EV portion of this LDW machine is how quickly and efficiently you'll get free drinks :)
Absolutely!!!
It is the closest to the station where the bartender gives the drinks to the cocktail waitress with nothing in between!
Be nice to grind out once a week but as soon as you get up to eat or go to the restroom, might get snatched up.
Quote: PerditionDoes that machine have a slot for a players club card? I know you guys said it was an older coin pay machine.

When I played it, I might have got 2 beers in 45 minutes. Service is probably better now with the Sigma Derby in there.

Possibly negative...haha
Hopefully can get the bankroll up enough to move over to 25 cent machines in 1-2 years.
One gripe about the D is handpays for anything over $300 since the upstairs VP machines spits out coins. I pulled 4 deuces on $1 and had a handpay, was not happy and decided not to tip the attendant since the machine should have paid out. If the handpay is not a W-2G worthy amount I usually don't tip.
The attendant muttered under his breath, "stiff" when he came by again but I wasn't too sure.
Don't you have something you should be doing?Quote: djatcI always see the machine empty, unless some sharp tourist is on it. They usually don't stay long.

The loosest is now a 100.92% double deuces at the El Cortez.
He went well past that goal, I'm sure he would laugh at just the thought of it.Quote: PerditionTrying to think up a circuit for 2014 and this one is at the top of the list. Probably be this, 2 Stations locations, the Palms, and Aliante. That's 5 days a week right there of working nickel machines.
