I tried to get upgraded to a deluxe room and even though they were at only 38% occupancy they declined my request.
I could go through a host, but they I'd be obligated to play there and I didn't want to be stuck playing there exclusively for an upgrade or even a comped room.
Any one else been comped there yet, or at least upgraded?
You just expect them to give you extra for nothing?Quote: BenJammin

Quote: GWAEI received an offer from the meadows today for 3 nights free, 25 dining, and 20 slot play at eastside . We are thinking about going out with our 2 young kids. I am thinking about doing it then renting a car so we can do other things and go to strip and downtown. Is it easy enough to get around and would a car be needed or could we just do public transportation?
The 202 bus goes down Flamingo to the strip. The BHX goes to downtown. Also there is a shuttle from Sam's Town to Main Street Station I believe.

The shuttle from Sam's town (which is s short walk from eastside) goes to Fremont casino and California, not Main street, not that it matters. Still downtown. there is also a shuttle from Sam's that goes to the strip (harrah's I believe). Both shuttles are free.
The two public transportation options that Ibeatyouraces's mentioned are pretty convenient as far as public transportation goes. They both run every 15 minutes and are just a straight shot to strip and downtown. No transfers or anything.

It might depend on (a) where you want to go to "do other things" and (b) how young the kids are.
The 202 does go to the Strip, but (a) it's about 3/4 mile from Eastside Cannery to the nearest 202 stop (there's supposed to be one near the casino, but I don't think it's open during some major construction in the area), and (b) the bus about 40 minutes to get there.
Also take into account that even if you get the 3-day passes that include the Deuce and SDX buses on the Strip, that's something like $60 for the four of you.
If it's only three nights, I would suggest renting the car. This also avoids things like having to wait out in the sunlight for up to 30 minutes for a bus.
And agreed with TDG. With kids, especially if they're younger, just rent a car instead of waiting in the heat.
My first thought was to rent a car for 3 days which isn't very expensive but we would need car seats and they really get you there. It's almost cheaper to buy one at Walmart and just throw it away or donate it I guess.
Quote: GWAEHow is the pool situation there? I tried to find the info on their site but I am failing from my phone.

I believe some airlines still allow you to check car seats for free.
I love the Steak restaurant there. One of my favorites at a reasonable price.

Thank bbb, I also forgot that this site has a reviews section.
I also just found out that AAA members can get free car seats.
So can anyone think of a reason not to stay at eastside with a free riom, some food, and some fp? Oh and no resort fees.

I can't think of a reason not to. Especially if you have been to Vegas multiple times. With you being a member of this forum, I would say that would probably be a resounding yes.

I have been to 8 times. Have stayed on strip each time.
Only been there 1 time in the last 6 years. We have not been there with kids yet. We really don't have any intentions on gambling other than a thing or 2 that I am doing on my own.

Eastside had a loss rebate for new players. I don't know if they still have that or not, but it might be worth asking at the players club, and spending a few minutes playing machines if the still have it.
That rebate has been gone for months.Quote: kewljEastside had a loss rebate for new players. I don't know if they still have that or not, but it might be worth asking at the players club, and spending a few minutes playing machines if the still have it.
GWAE RENT A CAR. Bus and heat sucks, don't forget you also have to pay to use the bus. Dragging around rugrats on the bus = no fun.

+1
Vegas is very cheap for car rentals, and the time saved is worth a lot especially on vacation. Also you can have one of your kids start the car with ac on before you drive it. Thats what kids are for right?

You mean you can use them for more than beer-getters!?
(The above sentence is a joke, neither of my children has ever touched alcohol or any vessel containing alcohol, much less brought me one.)

Tv remotes when the remote is broken or out of batteries
Lotto ticket replacement, pop one out, pressure the kid to be a doctor/lawyer/actor/singer/athlete, profit
Designated driver when heading to a club or bar when they can drive
Openers for women at parks, bonus if the kid is cute and has a sense of being a wingman
Free/cheap labor on the beet farm.
No AC windows rolled up is the trend when parents bring the kids to Vegas.Quote: djatc+1

I haven't heard of this happening yet this year.

Maybe that is why you see 5 year Olds stealing cars.

I am seeing 4 days for about $100. That is not horrible since I would spend $50 or so just to and from the airport.

It might be because of people like me who rent in Vegas and use Vegas as a starting point..... they do double takes everytime I bring the rental back at the mileage I put on Malibu and back is just a tad over the average LOL
That is a good deal and I would jump on it.Quote: GWAEI am seeing 4 days for about $100. That is not horrible since I would spend $50 or so just to and from the airport.
