I was reading something about it, that it's as good as the NYC location (where you can't get a reservation ever). Is it worth making time for, with all the other choices available?

Ughhhhhhhhh!!! overpiced meatballs - overrated sauce - and, they REFUSED to make a friend of mine chicken parm (they said it was not on the menu and therefore could not be made...REALLY?!?)
Also, the service was sub-par

Thanks man. Yours is a trustworthy opinion. Do you have a suggestion for good Italian?

Hmmmm...actually - I am not sure I have ever eaten an Italian meal in Vegas other than the unfortunate experience at Rao's...
I will keep my finger on the pulse and let you know if I hear of anything

I've been to Rao's in Harlem a few times to sit at the bar and wait for a table. Fuggedaboutit! The regulars purchase the tables by the year like a season ticket and there only ten or so tables. Most of my friends who have dined there have said the food was nothing special and the place is over priced and over hyped.

Is that the place in the passageway, across from the bar that looks like a ship (see picture below)? If so, I ate there about six months and ago and was happy with the food and service. About on par for a pricey Vegas steak house. I can't compare it to anything in New York.

Since I dunno what chicken park is, I would refuse too. :P Maybe you meant chicken parmesan? And yeah that's crappy, but I also would never request something that wasn't on the menu unless I was aware it was some secret type of item (e.g. Ellis Island steak special).

Rao's is across from Payard's and near the escalator's going up to the ballroom/convention rooms

Yes - chicken parm lol
To say it cannot be made is ludicrous - they make veal parmesan and had grilled chicken breasts on the menu - how hard is it to bread it and fry it up for my friend?

Yeah, definitely. I would want chicken over veal myself I think. I say "I think" because I've never tried veal parmesan, but considering what veal technically is, I'm in no big rush to try it either.

Thanks. The only meal we have reserved is SW Steakhouse. We're looking for something before or after Jersy Boys, on a Wednesday. I know there's good French there, at Paris, but we're boring. We'd rather eat quality of what we know than experimental of what we don't, all things equal.

Best steak I've ever eaten outside of Nebraska (where they truly do the best pure steak) was at a French restaurant. You might enjoy it!

Thanks, bbb. Thing is, "we" is different from "I". My recognition of that is very important (as is hers). There is enough choice that we can find positive agreement.

Yelp has a list. .

I don't much care for Italian food, so I cannot recommend based on personal knowledge.

I will tell you that the burger place between Bally's and Paris is pretty good and not too expensive. Me and the Mrs went had 2 burgers, I had 2 beers and she a milkshake. $40 on the number. t=Her turkkey burger was the best i have ever had.

I know its not real Italian, but the pizza place going into Paris from Bally's was pretty good @ $6.99 with a drink and bag of chips.

We've decided on SW Steakhouse at The Wynn, Mon Ami Gabi at Paris, and Samba at The Mirage. They're all connected to shows we're seeing at those places: Le Reve, Jersey Boys, and Terry Fator.

I wouldn't have picked Terry Fator, but people keep saying that it's a lot better than one would think, that he is very entertaining. I'm OK with a good entertainer.

I have eaten at Samba in the Mirage. It was OK but nothing special. Like a lot of restaurants in the casinos the price is based more on the location than the quality level. The Brazilian steak house concept is fun but the meat was average.

We saw Terry Fator a few years ago. I wasn't expecting much but we had a great time at the show. In my opinion most people would enjoy it.

We normally stay at the Mirage when visiting Vegas. Our favorite restaurant there is BLT burger. Their burgers are top notch and, though expensive, comparable to similarly priced burgers at home (Seattle.) We are planning to try the new Heritage Steak when we visit next month.

For the food lover the best thing about the Mirage is that it is convenient to the Venetian/Palazzo which has lots of great food options. Last spring I ate at the Grimaldi's pizza in the mall there. I was skeptical of turning Grimaldi's into a chain but the pizza was pretty much identical to that in the Brooklyn location.

A good option for Italian food is Olives at Bellagio.

I saw him 2 weeks ago today. The show isn't entirely puppet-based; he sang a couple of sappy country-sounding songs in the second half. By the end, the parts that were good outweighed the parts that seemed out of place. I doubt I'd voluntarily see the show more than once, but I think he keeps his content up-to-date because there was something about Miley Cyrus/twerking when I saw it.

My wife and I went to Rao's when we were in Vegas in August. We originally wanted to go to the Caesars buffet, but the wait was over two hours (it was 6 in the evening on a Saturday - silly us.) So we got out of line and went to Rao's and got seated right away on the "patio" area.

It was a bit unusual (I had the pear ravioli) but I enjoyed it. Not as good as when we went to Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill two nights before, but a good meal.
