I can't find any sort of date on this article, so I'm not sure how valid the information still is.
Quote: Harrah's Total Rewards 101There is a one-day shortcut for the Tier program: if 2,000 points are earned in a single day, Platinum status is attained, while 3,000 points in one day will bump the player to Diamond status. These rules may vary by property.
Quote: Harrah's Total Rewards 101Racing: Every $100 bet earns a sum of 200 Base Reward Credits and Bonus Reward Credits. Regardless of how they are divided, the comp rate is 2%.
If I wager $1500 on Harness Races during the "Casino Day", does that = DIAD? I'd love to spend a few hours at the Racebook, anyway.
Any information would be appreciated.
Quote: ScotI am going to be in Vegas from 2/27-3/5. I'll be staying at the Rio. I have been doing some research about the Total Rewards program, and have found a lot of useful information, particularly this article written by the Wiz: Harrah's Total Rewards 101 .

It doesn't say anything about Tier credits. I think reward credits and tier credits can be two different things.
Quote: Harrah's Total Rewards 101Tier Credits are generally earned at the same rate as Base Reward Credits (poker is the only exception I know of).

I would ask the sportsbook before attempting this.
And the Wiz also wrote, the sportsbook gives you 2% in base and bonus rewards credits. 2% overall is a pretty decent comp, imo; I wouldn't be surprised if it was less now.
But tier score is only based on base reward credits only. Like you say this issue comes up in poker, 1/2NL in Vegas you get 17 base reward credits per hour and 83 bonus reward credits per hour giving you a total of 100 reward credits per hour. But you only earn Tier points on the base reward credits only (17 Tier/hr). I'm guessing a similar scenario exists in the sportsbook.

Just to clarify, the 2% is for racing, not sports betting. Thanks for your thoughts. I think you are right. I will have to ask, but I think a similar situation to the poker scenario probably does exist.
Quote: 1arrowheaddrI would be really surprised if $1500 in racing bets got DIAD. I think both the racing and sports bets are treated differently from slots and video poker.
It does sound too good to be true... So it probably is. I have spent hours searching and can't find any reference to how the Racebook bets generate tier credits.
As for racing specifically, from the article:
Racing: Every $100 bet earns a sum of 200 Base Reward Credits and Bonus Reward Credits.
That's 200 combined. Bonus Reward Credits don't bring tier credits with them. The distribution is at best 100/100, but probably worse. At 100/100 it would then be $5,000 in bets. At 50/150, $10k.
It is my pleasure to assist you with your sports book earning inquiry. You will earn three (3) Base Credits for every $10 spent on race wagers and one (1) Base Credit for every $20 spent on sports wagers. I hope this information was helpful in providing our sports book earnings. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I believe it will require wagering $16,667 in a day at racing to get Diamond.
