Rooms are the same. I actually didn't think it was that bad. Yes, the rooms are old, but everything worked and was pretty comfortable. I gotta say the 14" CRT TV is a nostalgia trip. Real glass drinking vessels and coffee makers are a very nice touch for this price point. If I were planning a trip to the Strip, I would still pay the extra bux for Harrah's or Bally's, but The Quad is a great deal.

Construction noise in the rooms? How bad was that? What floor were u on?
15th. Yeah, you could hear The Linq construction starting just around daybreak. For some reason it didn't bother me very much. It's pretty muffled/white noise-ish.Quote: tringlomaneQuote: teddys

They have a new Platinum/Diamond/Seven Stars check-in lounge. Super-nice.Quote: SACRIs there a separate line for invited guests check-in? My only complaint about the IP was they only had one check-in line, which meant it took forever.

Awesome.
That is exactly what I was hoping for.

Do they actually let the Platinum plebes in there??!?!!??
At Flamingo, there's the special check in lounge with the frosted glass double doors, labeled "PLATINUM/DIAMOND" in giant letters over the top. Except when you walk up close, there's a little temporary sign that says "Diamond guests only" or some bull. I was pissed.
Saw the Platinum/Diamond/Seven Stars check-in lounge, and yes, it is nice.
Something else to note is they also have a separate area for Gold members to check-in, too. It is one little extra push to join the TR players club.
Given the narrow hallway you walk down right now to register, having even a Gold card to go in that separate line is worth it.
cancelled it. The comments on Tripadvisor are too scary.
3 hour check in lines, constant construction noise in the
morning, doors that don't close, filthy room, air that won't
work, hallway noise 24 hours a day, on and on. Bums off
the Strip wandering the hallways, super slow elevators,
terrible maid service. And the clientele is the bottom of the
barrel because its the cheapest on the Strip. I'm staying
at Bally's instead.
for a weeks stay, worth it not to get the Quad experience.
If their regular rooms are that bad, the dog rooms must
be pig sty's.. I've never been in this property, they have
something called 'dealertainers', these loud and irritating
performers that lip sync in the middle of the casino from
10am till 2am. Some people found it so loud they couldn't
gamble there. I have very sensitive hearing, and that was
enough to send me to another hotel.
Quote: tringlomaneI'll definitely have my earplugs packed though next month just in case there is significant weekend construction.
I always wear plugs AND the same sound suppression
ear protection shooters wear. I even have soft latex
pieces that mold over the plugs if need be. And often
the sounds still get thru.
Although the places is run-down, I never had any problems other than a long (one hour) wait to check in.
Of course, being cheapest, and knowing it's reputation, I didn't have any high expectations, but I still didn't have any problems.
I plan on staying at the Quad at least a few days when I come for G2E.
Also, I didn't think the dealertainers were too loud.
I stayed at IP last summer during the construction. I recall about a 30 to 40 minute wait to check-in on a Friday afternoon around noon. Of course, that is no guarantee of what it is like right now. The room was just OK, and I thought it was funny that the TV was this tiny (19", maybe smaller ! ) tube set with a few crappy channels.
Surprisingly, the drink service there was very fast and friendly, especially for a very busy Friday night. The young lady handling the Video Poker / Slots area was by about very often, in fact I think it was one of the best drink servers I have ever had. PALMS also did an excellent job last summer when I was playing their 100.7 DW VP.

If you are a Total Rewards member, you won't wait in line for long.
They have a separate check-in desk for Gold members, and the lounge for Platinum/Diamond/Seven Stars.
It is a narrow hallway to walk through to check-in, though.
The casino is nice, the rooms are still the old IP rooms.
Some of the people on TripAdvisor are idiots, quite frankly. They book a room at a place because the rates are cheap, and then complain when they get what they paid for.

Yep, easiest check-in I ever had in Vegas because people cannot read signs (or tons of people at Quad don't have a card?). Even at peak check-in times, the Gold line was never that long. Also got the perfect room that fulfilled all my anti-noise requests.

I HATE waiting in lines, so I always try to stay in places with "Invited Guests Check-in" or the like.
Flamingo has separate kiosks to get your room key if you have a reservation. Harrah's has the Platinum/Diamond lounge, as does Quod.
I've been at Flamingo when they've created a separate line for Gold members.
Honestly, the ability to avoid lines is one of the biggest perks of being a TR member now.

Damn, I have not seen that, or it wasn't there the last time I stayed at Flamingo. That would be a serious time-saver.

They have them at Harrah's AC. Must still be in testing. First time I used one, a guy from the regular line and I walked to the elevator together, went up together, chatting the whole time. Then we both took out our keys to access the same room! Turns out the system had let the desk clerk and my kiosk both take the same room out of inventory.
Other than that funny blip, it's been smooth sailing at Harrah's AC. Saves maybe 15 minutes each time, and I do like picking my exact room. Probably kills any chance I have of ever being upgraded, but I can pick my tower and floor with no problem.
