Quote: ncfatcatWhen did Wild West go under?
Quite a few months ago. The Virginia City Buffet was the last big thing to close, and that was just before the summer season.
Quote: aceofspadesPer my inside sources in AC, patrons staying at Bally's must now check-in at Caesars check-in. For those who do not know the geography, in order to get from Caesars check-in to Bally's you must walk through the entire casino floor at Caesars, through a hallway, down an escalator, through the now defunct Wild Wild West, up an escalator, down a hall, then finally reach the casino floor of Bally's!!! WOW
Oh Holly Crap!! That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Some suit miscounted the benefit/cost on this one, people are going to be pissed. It's a real long walk to Caesars and back. Especially when you are schleping your luggage up and down two escalators. How much money can this possibly be saving them? Any chance this is a temporary remodling thing or something?
The main lobby for first timers, gold and platinum lines.
The 7 Stars Check in which also handles Diamonds now. Open till 10pm.
The Augustus/Octavius Towers check in -- usually open all night -- regardless of what "card" you have. This check in is usually overstaffed, while the main lobby is understaffed. I am sure that if you showed up at the Augustus/Octavius check in they would handle you no matter where you are staying in the hotel.

I find this hard to believe.
Have you ever seen the check-in lines at both casinos at 4pm?
The lines at Caesars back up into the lobby area now. With the amount of people doubling, the lines will back up into the casino. If you are checking in, bring a snack. It's going to be a while before you get to the counter.
If you are staying at Ballys and you have to check in at Caesars, it will take you a good 10 minutes to walk thru Caesars, WWW and past the Ballys Total Rewards center before you even get to an elevator to get to your room.

Not to doubt you, since you go to AC way more than I do, but this is almost impossible to believe.
First, I have seen updated reviews within the past two weeks where NOBODY has mentioned the check-in being 15 minutes from the hotels. These have also been on non-CET websites. Second, Caesars.com doesn't acknowledge any change in check-in procedures. This could be understandable, as this would be a PR nightmare, but it would be much worse if someone shows up to check-in at Bally's, only to find out they have to walk 10 minutes, check-in, then walk 10 minutes back.
I'm not sure who you are inside sources are; I'm sure they are probably very reliable about other things, but this sounds like an ugly rumor, propagated against CET.
Quote: buzzpaffI can only assume you are generously giving them this weekend without your play, so they might recoup their losses ?
HAHA if only that was the case - I am missing out on $135 free slot play :(
Quote: aceofspadesAccording to word I just heard (no rhyme intended), Bally's AC front desk employees have been "let go"
That doesn't necessarily mean the check-in is moving to Caesars though. They might be trying to man both check-in desks with the staff of just Caesars, which wouldn't surprise me. That will mean longer lines at both properties... but to think they would close down the desk and make people check in that far away is still unbelievable.

If they ever got those self-service check-in computers working reliably, the situation might not be so bad.
