There it goes, in the wake of my dissolution papers being submitted to the Court last Friday, that hope to which I clung so tenaciously...that I would meet Angela and woo her with...um....that I would meet Angela who wouldn't have very good taste in men...lmao!!!

Congratulations to her, though, in all seriousness!

EDIT: This post is a light jab at myself, by the way, has nothing to do with Angela's actual taste in men, just what I would want her taste in men to be which would be not very good.

Mission,

What you meant came through loud and clear, but you're selling yourself short. My condolences on the dissolution, and may there be happier times ahead.

Mission, I don't remember reading anything about dissolution papers in previous posts. Are you talking about your marriage? If so I'm very sorry to hear this and wish you the best.

Question was answered. The ban was made out of haste and confusion after a cooling off period and more though, it seems a permanent ban was to harsh.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone!

Neither of us had a lawyer as all of the terms we both found 100% agreeable, though it is a bit of a unique arrangement. I don't discuss my (typical lack of) personal life much on here, so thought I'd work it into a joke. It's been in the making for some time. The terms are very amicable.

That's good. IMO, that is the way to get a divorce (sorry ace, not trying to put you out of business!) :)

I don't know the details of ohio, but, I know that in CA, if there are no kids involved (or if you both agree how you want custody to work) there is no reason to get lawyers involved in most cases. The judge is going to split the money up the way that the law says is has to be split up; all the involving lawyers does is reduce the amount of money to be split up. (If there are questions about separate vs community property, that might not be true, but in most cases, it is)

That's basically correct, except the arrangement is a bit more unique than that given her current financial needs because she is in school for nursing. Let's say that we're, "Front-ending," a lot of it, so to speak, in spousal support and there is no child support as we have joint custody. I'm basically going to pay the mortgage (while she lives there) and all of the bills including the PT Cruiser payment (which will be titled to her after paid off), on the back end, after she graduates and/or has a FT job for 120 days, she moves out of the house, I move back in, neither of us ever owes the other anything, we have joint custody and each of us claims one child for tax purposes.

I'm obviously claiming both kids for tax years that she is in college.

Sorry to hear about it. from your earlier post I just assumed it was a joke.

On the other hand, is it just coincidence that Juicejenny is back at the same time this is happening?

Yeah, tough break Mission. I saw the joke yesterday but didn't quite know what to make of it, so instead of issuing my respects I thought I would hold back until someone else brought it up.

Divorces are never easy but it seems like you both are adults about the whole thing. When kids are involved things can get ugly real quick......

Look on the bright side......now it is time to eat as many nuggets as you want and drink as much as you want and pass out where you want and gamble as much as you want and flirt with whomever you want and date whomever you want and walk around in your underwear whenever you want and cut the grass whenever you want and sleep whenever you want.........should I go on?

Perhaps your standards are too high? My best friend lives in Australia and he got divorced about 7 years ago. He only goes for 100 lb, gym fit bunnies with fake boobs, bubble butts and absolutely NO brains.

He still complains about not finding "someone special".....go figure :)

Based on the amount of "adult time" that was reported in the trip report from your nugget challenge trip, I am definitely surprised that you are separating!

But these things do happen. I'm getting married this summer for the first time, and it's hard to believe that we'll beat the averages and stick together. But obviously I'm optimistic, or else we wouldn't be doing it...

Best of luck to the both of you, and most importantly to your kids.

Thanks, they're much better off this way. It's not so much that they watch two people arguing all the time (as with most divorces) they just have to endure two parents who have absolutely nothing to say to the other, except when discussing either them or finances. Generates a pretty cold atmosphere. The kids also get more affection with just either of us as opposed to both, because that dark cloud of our relationship isn't hanging over everything.

Not really, this is good for all parties involved. My only regret is that we just kept trying and trying and trying to make a relationship destined to failure work instead of divorcing sooner. Take away the kids, and she and I would have almost nothing in common.

Quote:

No, before Dissolution was ever seriously on the table we'd already agreed to 100% joint custody and got it down in black and white...just in case.

The funny thing is that I don't really do much of that stuff, or have any compulsion to. I tend to reserve any -EV gambling for once/month with friends (other than $5 here and there) and the same can be said for drinking. Vegas is the exception to both of these rules.

I don't like walking in my underwear, I generally sleep fully clothed, just whatever I happened to be wearing that day, unless I am hot, from a body-temperature standpoint.

I also have no plans on dating, and while being verbally flirtatious, on occasion, I have no plans on following through. I might have a fling with a cocktail waitress in Vegas on one of my trips, but aside from that, I don't plan on engaging anyone in sexual congress.
