No matter what or how people feel about this, welcome to the forum.Quote: Area51Well, for those who will never be open to looking at these characters...EvenBob, what can I say? :) We tried to find their humanity, and tried to show them for who they are. As documentarians we try to be objective and not judge. For sure, some are much more difficult to "like" than others. But hey, I respect your viewpoint.
For those who are enjoying the episodes, that is so awesome! It's really cool to make something that people respond to. We do have an episode coming up that features a number of different characters, as well as "Man-on-the-street" interviews with the public. And if we do get this picked up by a network for a 2nd season we will definitely expand the roster to include street musicians, the bucket drummers, the ventriloquist, the Indian marionette and even Carl the sax guy...even though a soprano sax is so annoying :)
Today's episode actually shows Chuck/Cupid with his family...and he is the most normal of all of them! Thank you guys for the feedback. It really helps!
I will watch until i think its fluffy or fake staged or dishonest.

As far as locking up diaper man "where he belongs". For what do you want to lock him up? What crime has he committed?

Haha! I might have to support you on that one :)
@AxelWolf - I want to put the "real" in Reality TV. There's so many good stories out there in the world. I just want to document them and get out of the way. They can tell themselves without all the doctoring the producers do. I also want to show some of the different sides of Las Vegas nobody has seen (not just this series). There's something like 12 or 15 shows being shot here, and IMHO only 2 of them really have anything to do with this town. There's a lot of untapped, interesting things to see here!
Thanks for your support!
Well, as far as a documentary is concerned, it is what it is and the people are what they are. I think I have watched all the episodes.
But to make the big-time jump to cable TV, I think you are going to need to find some more likeable and relateable street performers. And good luck with that.
@ Gabes22 - Great question! We've thought about it...definitely want to start local, because we're Vegas centric...but also because we think Las Vegas is an awesome visual experience. But, a number of characters have mentioned working in other series. There's even an urban myth that this one guys goes down to the Cayman Islands, spends several months and makes thousands upon thousand doing his character down there...I could see spending a few months in the Caymans :)
@ JohnnyQ - Funny you say that. The feedback we have gotten has been similar, in that they are not sure if anybody would watch these people. I would posit that many of the current reality shows feature characters that are fringe at best. It's all in the packaging. Don't know if we have it...but it's been fun and educational to produce this!

I forgot to mention the production of this seemed very professional.
I really like your attitude for sure. I like that your not overly fluffing this up or overly defending it, like some people do when they have an idea. They spend their time telling everyone how wrong they are and won't listen to any suggestions or take an ounce of criticism.
You have answered every question with respect and what seems to be honest answers. You don't seem deluded and you seem serious about gathering suggestions and ideas. I don't know you, but I already like you you. I really hope you find success and this works out for you. .

Actually, Area51, Axel would be a great interview if you could get him to do it. One of the more interesting personalities I've ever met in Vegas, definitely a good talker.

Get Axel on video, he loves publicity. The
more the better..
There is a young and charismatic Elvis Impersonator at Ellis Island on Friday nights. He does a short spiel to a handful of people in the Bar/Lounge, and then I think he deals BJ. He would be an excellent person to profile in your series.
It would be an interesting story to hear HIS story. "He is a block from the Strip and Miles away at the same time" kindof thing.

Yeah, I get your sarcasm. I said IF. He might be willing to talk obscured or in shadow. You never know.
Bob I don't know if you were joking (I think so) but I have never wanted to be on anything like that, and I have turned down offers.Quote: EvenBobGet Axel on video, he loves publicity. The

@JohnnyQ - Love Ellis Island! Especially the micro brews...a great excuse to check him out! And I agree with your angle. There's so much stuff that could be covered just off-strip. The tourists have no idea what is a block away.
And AxelWolf and Beachbumbabs - First, thanks for the kind words and support. I'm all about positivism and building bridges and relationships. Regarding our backgrounds, check out our company website: www.area51filmgroup.com to see my wife and my's backgrounds. This is our 4th completed project and 3rd documentary program.
The big question, though, is AxelWolf - what is YOUR background? After all this mystery about being interviewed, my curiosity is totally piqued!
-100.Quote: djatcI would like to see some slot hustlers. They are all over fremont and usually chase must hit bys and vulture ultimate x. Its a decent enough living just like the street performers, and im sure they wont mind the exposure.
prefers not to have casinos get anymore paranoid than they already are. Prefers not to create more competition.

Probably don't have to worry about it. Those types of players are probably hard to find/identify, and once you do, they'd probably shy away from cameras.
@ AxelWolf, DJTeddyBear - I have to know...what are slot hustlers?? I'm aware of the slot advantage players, and people who find several cents left on a machine and play it out...something in there perhaps?
Quote: Area51@ AxelWolf, DJTeddyBear - I have to know...what are slot hustlers?? I'm aware of the slot advantage players, and people who find several cents left on a machine and play it out...something in there perhaps?
No.
As djatc described, there are certain progressive slots that have 'must hit by' targets. The slot hustlers are advantage players who look for machines that are near their payout points.
There are also slot stalkers who may be the type looking for those machines ready to hit. They are also the type that merely think a player who loses and leaves has primed the machine for a hit. This type was profiles excellently on the episode of Friends where the gang goes to Vegas to find Joey's movie cancelled and he's working as a Caesar. Phoebe and Rachel are playing slots where they have a stalker, but describe her as a lurker.
I doubt you'll be able to find either type willing to talk on camera.
The people who look for abandoned credits? Yeah, they might make interesting interviews. But I wonder if they really exist. After all, players are more likely to cash out a few cents and never cash in the ticket than to just abandon it on the machine.
Keep up the good work!
I know the stalkers are out there. Have friends/family in security and gaming who watch this stuff. But the hustler/advantage players...now that IS interesting! I gamble some, with mixed results. For someone to make a living at slots, I am sure they are interesting people! And this is exactly the kind of Vegas stories I would love to show! Nobody has brought this stuff to the forefront in a real human way. Cool idea.
