Assuming the $20 trick does work, I don't think its worth it. The base rate room is good enough for me: a bed and a hot shower. You won't be spending much time in your room.

I tried the 20 dollar at Ballys once
Got a big nice room with a big bathroom
I actually prefer a small bathroom, the hot water from a shower warms up the bathroom nicely.
Stepping out of a shower in a large bathroom, a bit chilly.
That was the last time i did the 20 dollar trick, much prefer a standard sized bathroom.
When somebody doesn't believe me, I could care less. Some get totally bent out of shape when not believed. Weird. I believe very little on all forums

The whole reason it's called a "trick" is that it's really a tip for the front deck clerk who is assigning your room. Often, if they can give you the upgrade, they will. If not, they'll return the tip.
So doing it pre-booking / online is quite impossible. Of course, you can pay for the upgrade online, but that generally costs more than $20...
I invented a few casino games. Info:
