Actually, not my favorite casino floor. But the rooms, amenities, service part of the question puts it #1 in my book overall.
Revel 100% my favorite atmosphere and rooms I loved.Quote: WandererIn your opinion, what is the best overall hotel/casino you've been to? This takes into consideration everything from the casino atmosphere, restaurants, night clubs, shows, shops, pool, etc.
Restaurants, well I only hit 3 of them.
The rest don't know.
If I really had a choice, I'd like to go hang out at Stardust again. But, that's a little hard to do nowadays.
Quote: MrVBellagio was the fanciest, but MGM fits me like a comfortable shoe.
The MGM has a lot going for it. It has two major shows (Ka, David Copperfield) that would interest most anyone. It hosts a lot of fights, games and concerts at the Grand Garden Arena. As far as I know, and I learned this on the "best steakhouse" thread I started, it has the only steakhouse in the city that serves Wagyu beef. It has a comedy club. I have heard a lot about the SkyLofts and other suites there.
The MGM isn't as renowned for its elegance as Bellagio, Wynn and Venetian. It isn't as iconic as Caesars. But if you had to stay strictly on one property for 2-3 days with money to burn, the MGM would be a good choice. If I had to name a weakness right off the top of my head, and maybe someone who has explored the property more than I have can say otherwise, I don't think it has the shopping options of some of the other high-end properties.

It's not the only one. Stripsteak (Mandalay Bay) has it too. I'd guess that there are others as well; it is sort of becoming a trendy thing.
However, as much as I love Michael Mina restaurants, I have to say that Craftsteak is much better than Stripsteak IMO.
My main problem with MGM is that there are no good breakfast/brunch options. They have some good restaurants but they are only open for dinner.
If the Wynn/Encore was located where Bellagio is and not so far north, that'd probably be my pick.
to multiple casinos, right access to decently priced buffets,
right atmosphere. The rooms are adequate, who spends
time in the room when in Vegas anyway. Views? Been going
since 1975 and have not looked out a hotel room window
or even opened the drapes in decades. Why would I.
They have free parking for my rental and valet pickup is about
100 feet from the elevator, as opposed to half a mile in some
casinos. Two elevator locations that both open onto the casino
floor. I'm in Vegas for the action, not spending 2 hours a day
walking to the action. Like at the GN. It's an 8min walk from the
tower elevators to the casino floor. That's insane. At the Plaza,
it's a whole city block from the elevator to the parking area.
Binions was very convenient too, but the hotel is closed.

Didn't you say you in another thread that you think Craftsteak is the best Vegas steakhouse you've tried?

Yes, absolutely. But it is not the only one with wagyu.
I had the wagyu at Stripsteak. It was ok. Decent amount of fat but honestly the marbling could have been better -- it was not even enough. The wagyu I had at Craftsteak was much better. Also more expensive! But it's not like I'm paying so what do I care :)

Yeah, I gotcha on the wagyu point. I was just asking again about Craftsteak. I think it may be next on my list of steakhouses to try in Vegas.

Yeah, you should definitely go. If you like lobster bisque, they have a very good lobster bisque. Their sides are all generally pretty good -- if you like mushrooms, the mushroom side is excellent.
If you don't mind shelling out the cash (or if you are comped!), the domestic wagyu is very good. I have not tried the australian or japanese yet, but they should be even better. A lot of times I'll just get their regular filet, which is great. I've heard great things about the bone-in ribeye but I haven't tried it yet. I don't recommend the t-bone -- I got it once when I was very hungry (it's a big cut) and it is not up to the standards of their other cuts. If I was that hungry again I would probably go for one of their smaller, better steaks and "surf-n-turf" it with some scallops or lobster tail on the side.
My only complaint about the place is that the service can be hit-or-miss. I have had extremely bad service twice there (once they simply forgot to put in our order until we asked them 20 minutes later why the table beside us, who was seated after us, had gotten their food and we hadn't) and once they seemed to forget about us and we waited 20-30 minutes after finishing before they came by to ask us if we wanted to see a dessert menu, etc. But, other times the service has been top-notch.

At that point they should have offered you the meal for free.

i would tend to agree. They just comped us the appetizers, I think.
