I can't remember who exactly was going to the Grand Canyon in the next few days, but just heard on the news that 3 national parks are reopening for the duration of the shutdown. All 3 are being funded by the state they're in so they can reopen. Arizona is paying for the Grand Canyon, New York is paying for the Statue of Liberty, and South Dakota is paying for Mount Rushmore. So you may get to go yet while you're out there!
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Three cheers for AZ, NY, and SD. I wish Nevada would do the same for Red Rock. I bet they spend almost as much to keep people out as they do to keep it open anyway.

Sorry to rain on your sunny day, but I guarantee that this is going to backfire in the form of reduced federal spending in the states that have the money to pay to keep their national parks open.
I mean, good for them, but only good for now.

What I meant was, a reduction of federal money to a state that is relying on that money.
