I am unable to update my profile. Specifically, I can't enter a signature. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I do have a signature block for my profile, although it seems grayed out. I can enter text and it seems to be saved, but the signature isn’t shown on my posts and what I entered is gone when I return to the profile edit page.
I have tried entering a signature using both an iPhone X and a Windows 10 interface. If you see nothing unusual about my account setup, I am ready to just let this go.

Denouement: Operator error. (doh!) The profile form was presented with an obfuscated entry in the first password field, which I thought was the current password that should be left as-is. That needed to be cleared to allow an update, just as the instructions state. Tip of the hat to BeachBumBabs for the solution.
